Ural-375 car: specifications, description, engine, owner reviews

To date, there are a lot of car brands. On the models, even we are not talking, because it is simply impossible to calculate the number of the latter. But if it comes to cars, then you need to understand that some have received special distribution. Some really know the whole world. This happens when the name becomes a household name. That is, it is not just a brand and a concept, but rather a designation of a specific function.

Start from the beginning

"Ural-375" is just one of them. Yes, he may not be recognized around the world, but in the CIS it's hard to find an adult who does not know what he looks like.

The decision to produce new models of cars was taken by the Central Committee of the Communist Party back in 1958. As one of the main producers, the Ural Automobile Plant was chosen as a once . It is still located in Miass, near Chelyabinsk.

Mass reconstruction, ordered by the government of a huge country, required a lot of money. The goals simply had to justify the means. But, if you look at the cars "Ural", then we can say that everything went well.

Project

The purpose of the reconstruction, which was mentioned a little higher, is the need to create a new truck. Certain characteristics, incorporated into the scheme from the beginning, and became the guides for which the plan was striving.

The country needed trucks to work in areas with high terrain obstruction. For this, it was decided to prepare a whole bunch of five-ton trucks. And this is not a joke, since mass production began as early as 1961, and since that moment a lot of such cars have left on the roads.

The history of the car "Ural-375" begins a little earlier. Back in 1958, prototypes left for the road. Strictly speaking, they only took part in the demonstration at the parade. Besides, it was not such trucks yet.

First attempts

That first experienced couple was supposed to be something completely new. Strictly speaking, there was not much. Mainly because for machines with the marking name "Ural ZIS NAMI-375" details from ZILs were used. At least one of the samples was generally equipped with a cabin from the one hundred and thirtieth model.

In addition, the design was quite serious flaws, which did not allow to use them, as was originally intended. For example, the engine ("Ural-375") in these "concepts" was, to put it mildly, not good enough. The parts quickly worn out, there were always breakdowns. Incorrectly worked whole systems, such as clutch or brakes. In addition, the scheme was unfinished - bridges, as the basis of any machine, were not sufficiently rigid. The latter led to serious problems. It should also be noted that the borrowed cab was not sufficiently resistant to vibration - in conditions of impassable terrain this could become a critical factor.

Second step

They, as usual, was just "Ural-375". The scheme of its design was almost identical to today's. Despite the fact that before the series production was almost a year, for 1959 this was a major achievement. The party that had already left the assembly line was equipped with cabs of its own production.

As a matter of fact, the technical characteristics of the Ural-375 car are quite good. Even for a trial series. In addition, according to the order of the then Ministry of Defense, some changes were made. For example, over the platform began to install awning, as well as above the cabin itself. The glass could be cleaned. All this was due to military needs.

Seriality

After the above-mentioned experiments, the country's leadership approved the commencement of mass production. The first results could be seen already in November 1960. Then "Ural-375" for the first time seemed to people just like it is now.

The first few years were devoted to field trials. Until 1963, all the checks confirmed the indicated technical parameters. In fact, for all the time, even recommendations for improvement have been worked out. Some of the details caused engineers doubts, because they focused on making no mistakes.

Production

Ural-375 is a mass production vehicle. One hundred ten thousand copies left the stocks.

Production continued until the collapse of the Soviet Union, that is, until 1992.

Such a quantitative influx is easily explained by the fact that they were used literally everywhere. Indeed, it was difficult to find any more common truck. Not as large as some models of KrAZ trucks, he could still ride across rough terrain, carrying quite a lot of various cargo.

Ural-375: technical specifications

The engine at this truck-cross-country vehicle passed under the marking "ZIL-375". The design is V-shaped, with eight cylinders. The power is quite high, at 180 horsepower.

Separately, it is worth noting and a centralized system for changing the pressure in the tires. For trucks intended to travel over rough terrain, this is an important factor. The gearbox installed here is five-speed. Also, the car was equipped with a double-disk clutch.

Still it is necessary to tell about system of a distributing box. The fact is that there were two versions. The older control was quite difficult, since manual control of the lever moved the front axle to one of three positions - off and on. This is only two, but the latter could be with a locked or unlocked interaxle differential. The new version, included in the design in 1965, suggested a simplified mechanism to a large extent. So, the bridge was constantly turned on, but the inter-axle differential was set to planetary type, with an asymmetric lock.

The mechanism of management should also be discussed separately. The steering box was equipped with a special hydraulic booster - without it it was difficult to drive such a car. The working brake was also produced with an amplifier, but with a pneumatic one.

Disadvantages of the truck

What does Ural-375 have technical features? They tell a lot about the car. But everything was far from ideal, as it seems at first glance.

First of all, in the responses of the owners was called a huge fuel consumption, which was spent on the engine. The record beat all records for cars of this class and was forty-eight liters per hundred kilometers. In winter, this figure reached 60 liters. The motor as a whole was a big problem with this truck. The repair resource for him was low, and the breakdowns that happened from time to time simply turned the drivers off - fixing something was difficult enough.

In 1977, a new version of the all-terrain vehicle appeared - Ural-4230. In many respects, it was superior to this model, but the technical characteristics of Ural-375 are more impressive.

Modifications

More about the models of the truck. Like many other domestic cars, Ural-375 has often undergone various changes. Everything is quite logical, especially considering the needs of a huge country in technology.

First of all it is necessary to note "Ural-375D", which completely replaced standard cars already since 1964. The difference here was in the cabin - if the standard version used a tarp, then it was already all-metal.

"Ural-375A" was intended for work in tandem with a body-van K-375. They were released quite a lot, because the model came out pretty successful.

"Ural-375E" was another modification of the chassis, like the previous version. Only there was no grinding under one kind of bodywork. It was supposed to be used with different equipment, which actually happened.

Model "375C" was a simple truck tractor based on this design.

To work in the permafrost conditions, "375K" was created - it was used in the Far North. For this purpose, special insulation materials were used in the cabin, body and engine.

At one time, the "375H", intended for the national economy, was widely distributed. Outwardly differed in the other body (just a wooden platform with openable sides), as well as the absence of an air intake pipe.

It is also worth mentioning that quite a few cars were used in the Armed Forces. Based on this truck-terrain vehicle built a lot of useful mechanisms. Basically, these were tankers and building cars, but there were other examples - the Terek radar complexes or even the Grad rocket fire systems.

Conclusion

In general, this car was a very important milestone in the production of cars throughout the USSR. This is evidenced by reviews of owners and drivers with experience. The reliability has been checked for years and is confirmed by numerous good reviews, and today it is possible to meet such trucks on the roads.

What is the price of Ural-375? Serial production is discontinued, which means it is almost impossible to find new ones. But here already visited ... In this case, the cost will depend on the degree of deterioration, as well as on a particular model. The average amount will be within this range - 6-8 thousand dollars. A little expensive for a model that was removed from production 20 years ago.

So, we found out what kind of truck "Ural-375" has technical characteristics and price.
