Tribute is a tax that accompanies humanity

Tribute is a choice that was reimbursed in the form of cash equivalents or subsistence economy. This term was formed during the founding and development of Kievan Rus, when society in our lands also suffered class stratification. In other civilizations (for example, in Egypt, Mesopotamia, in China, etc.), this phenomenon has been the norm since time immemorial.

At the dawn of history

So, in ancient civilizations, where the state system has long been formed and the top of society has been defined, every ordinary resident must pay tribute. This is a tax that was delivered to the state directly or through the link that most often was the owner. As a rule, it was calculated according to the area of land owned by a person, the amount of harvest that he collected, and also based on how many slaves were subordinate to a particular master. In the period from the 3rd to the 1st millennium BC, only servicemen who, in fact, were dependent on the government, could not pay tribute to the state.

What could be paid tax to the state

For many years, the reimbursement was in the form of natural products. People gave what they grew on their lands, and they also took away everything that they made from their raw materials. In China, the tax was paid for by rice, later weaving began to develop, and in the process was high-quality silk. Also on these lands were mined silver, which was confiscated from workers and peasants by representatives of the ruling elite. Egypt and Mesopotamia are the countries where the slave trade was developed most of all. It was living labor there that was very appreciated, therefore all representatives of slaves passed from one owner to another tirelessly.

Money requisitions in Kievan Rus

Later, under the same flag, all the Old Slavic tribes also appeared, among which were glades, drevlyane, dregovichi, duleby, vyatichi, northerners and many others who lived both in the north and off the coast of the Black and Caspian seas. The country began to be called Kievan Rus, and was led by its dynasty of Rurikovich. It was to the representatives of this family that all residents of the state had to pay tribute. It was already money, which was called as dime. The amount of money paid depended on the living conditions of the peasant. Pole was always accompanied by a pole. This was an event when the prince together with his team went to collect these taxes, visiting all the settlements.

Capture and increase of tax

Later collect tribute from the Russians began the Mongol-Tatars, who in the 13th century conquered Russia. As a rule, nobody directly paid taxes to khans, they were brought by princes, each of which was assigned to a separate city. Since all the subsequent rulers of the empire of Genghis Khan were characterized by anarchic attitude, barbarism and the making of robberies, there were often cases of sale of people. In this situation, it was the person who acted as a tribute.

Throughout the entire historical period of mankind, up to the present day, ordinary people do not stop paying their lives to the state in which they live. Today, a tribute is a tax that is deducted from the salary of any employee of a state institution, as well as the funds that every private entrepreneur gives to the state treasury.
