In total there are 35 of them, and the uniqueness of technical parameters is a unique feature of each: there is a colossal difference in altitude (up to about 2500 m) and a considerable steepness exceeding 50 °.

Peak of Communism. Its history

To begin with, this mountain peak was discovered, it can be said, quite by accident. Almost 100 years ago (in 1928), a scientific expedition was working in its vicinity, studying local geology, flora and fauna. At the very beginning, scientists mistakenly took the mountain for the open year before Peak Garmo. This lasted for several years, until 1932, when specialists finally established that the above-mentioned peak is 20 km from the Peak of Communism and is not considered the highest point of the mountain chain.

How did you manage to set the height? With the help of topographic surveys conducted by I. Dorofeev . It was he who established the true height at 7495 m. After that, the place was put on a map and at first assigned to him the sonorous name of the great leader of that time, IV Stalin. And only in 1962 the peak was renamed into the Communism Peak, which is more familiar to us.

But that's not all. As you know, the Union has disintegrated, the political system has not lived up to expectations, and the mountain, which is geographically located on the territory of Tajikistan, received a new name - the name of Ismail Samoni, a man historically considered the founder of the country.

But the locals call the peak of Uzterga, which in Russian translates to "breathtaking" or "dizzying". Indeed, from such a height and head do not hesitate for long, and the spirit captures.
