Why do we need a hypertonic enema and how to put it correctly?

The hypertensive enema produces a good laxative effect and the emptying of the intestine without its sharp peristalsis. This procedure is indicated for frequent stool delays and massive edema of various origin. To stitch such an enema, Esmarch's mug is usually used , but some people prefer a conventional rubber hot water bottle. Both these and other devices can be purchased at any pharmacy, although a rubber heating pad with a special tip and hose can be found quite problematically.

Solutions for hypertensive enema

Most commonly used is a hypertonic enema solution , like magnesia or table salt. The easiest way to do this is to use a glass of a warm 5% sodium chloride composition, which is easy to prepare by yourself. To do this, dissolve a tablespoon of common salt in 200 ml of warm water. In addition, 20% solutions of sodium or magnesium sulphate are used for setting hypertensive enemas. It should be noted that such methods of cleansing have a strong irritant effect on the inner shell of the intestine, so the establishment of hypertension enema should be carried out only in case of emergency.

How to put a hypertonic enema

The hypertensive enema is put with the help of a pear - a special rubber balloon. To ensure that the injected solution does not cause discomfort, it needs to be warmed up, the same is recommended to do with the part of the tube that will be injected into the anus. With the help of a heating pad, you can also maintain the desired temperature in the very circle of Esmarch. It is more convenient to use electric heaters that are equipped with a heat regulator, which allows unlimited time to maintain the desired temperature. With microclyster, the drug is injected with a syringe through the catheter, and the solution must enter the intestine slowly, so as not to provoke the peristalsis of the rectum, followed by the ejection of the added solution. After the syringe is completely emptied, the catheter should be removed and try to keep the liquid administered for 15 minutes, strongly compressing the buttocks.

Contraindications to the procedure

A hypertonic enema containing a solution of sodium chloride causes a rush of tissue fluid into the intestinal cavity through its wall, while the contents of the latter are diluted, and the intestinal peristalsis increases. Such procedures are contraindicated in ulcers, cracks and inflammations of the sigmoid and rectum. Hypertonic enema will not be useful if a person has acute inflammation in the area of the anus, gastrointestinal bleeding and tumor neoplasms in the rectum. In order to avoid negative consequences and not cause yourself even greater harm, it is recommended to undergo a preliminary examination and to pass the necessary tests - this will help to protect your body from possible side reactions and subsequent serious complications.
