The Manor-Museum Kolomenskoye. How to get to the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve?

Our capital is rich in sights and memorable places. Many of them became reserved. They collected the entire history of our people, the country. In this article we want to present you the most interesting museum-reserve "Kolomenskoye", which is located almost in the center of Moscow.

More recently, it was an ordinary park in which residents of neighboring districts were walking, in the church of the Mother of God of Kazan were married, baptized children, celebrated church holidays.

Today the museum "Kolomenskoye" occupies a huge territory - 390 hectares. It has more than thirty architectural monuments, fifteen monuments of nature.

From the history of Kolomna

More than 2,5 thousand years ago, on a hill with a flat top, there was a settlement - Djakovo hillfort. Studies of archaeologists allow us to assert that people lived here even earlier - many monuments located near Diakovo Hill date back to V - III millennium BC. E.

The village of Kolomenskoye was founded by the inhabitants of Kolomna, who fled from Khan Baty. For the first time it is mentioned in the 14th century, in the letters of Ivan Kalita.

Starting from the XIV century, the village turns into a summer residence of Moscow princes. The architectural ensemble of the manor was formed for two centuries (XVI - XVII century.) As a summer royal residence.

In 1532, Vasily III, the father of Ivan the Terrible, built the Church of the Ascension on the high bank of the Moskva River. Since 1994, it has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This church for more than a century was the home church of almost all Russian tsars.

Its height is 62 meters. From the observation platform, located in the church, offers a magnificent view of the Moscow River, as well as a magnificent panorama of the city.

The Beheading Church

This temple is as ancient as the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, although not all those who visited Kolomenskoye are aware of its existence. The church is often called the Predtechenskaya. It is located at a distance from the main monuments. Many consider it mysterious, storing many mysteries. However, none of them has yet been solved.

The church is on a hill, at the foot of which immediately there is a mystery. The stream that runs around the hill does not freeze even in severe frosts. A steep wooden staircase leads to the temple. The church can be seen only from the upper steps of the stairs. To enter it, you need to go through the main gate. Everyone who crosses them gets to not just a temple, but also an ancient cemetery. Surprisingly, it does not cause gloomy impressions.

The church amazes everyone who first saw it with its grandiose dimensions: a central octahedral pillar 34 meters high and four tower-shaped aisles 17 meters high. The entire building is connected by a bypassed covered gallery. It is built on a single foundation. The church is made of brick, plastered and whitewashed. It is believed that the Church of St. John the Baptist is a prototype of the Moscow church of St. Basil the Blessed, which was built later. There was a version that the authors of both buildings are the same people. However, this version has not been scientifically confirmed.

In 2009, the restoration was completed here, the church is in excellent condition, but despite this it seems "forgotten" and lonely.

Kolomenskoye Museum - history of creation

In 1923, the architect-restorer P. Baranovsky organized a museum of wooden architecture on the territory of Kolomna. Wooden structures were built here, which had historical and architectural value. As a result of this activity, a house of Peter I, delivered from Arkhangelsk, a meadow-house brought from Preobrazhensky, the Mokhovaya Tower of Sumy Ostrog and many other valuable exhibits appeared in the museum.

Alexey Mikhailovich's Palace

In these places, Alexei Mikhailovich was very fond of resting. During his thirty-year reign, the village blossomed. At first the young ruler came to these places for falconry, but eventually he turned the village into a luxurious royal residence. In 1668 (in just one year!) Was built a magnificent wooden palace for two hundred and seventy rooms.

After the capital was transferred to St. Petersburg, the estate came to desolation, and under Catherine II the old palace was dismantled. In its place in 1767, Prince G. Makulov erected a new, four-story palace. The two lower floors of the building were made of stone, and the upper ones were wooden. Over the other buildings of the ensemble, too, the second floor was built up and later used it as a kitchen. Later, the palace was dismantled several times and rebuilt. The last time it happened in 1872. We must pay tribute to the masters of that time, who previously removed the necessary dimensions and made drawings of the historical structure. It is for them in our time was recreated a palace, available today to visit tourists.

Gosudarev yard, and now the museum-reserve "Kolomenskoye", was surrounded by a stone and wooden fence. Front entrance - Front or Palace gates led to the royal estate. The rear or Spassky gates were economic entry.

Peter the Great's House

Visiting the museum "Kolomenskoye", you can see the most interesting exhibit. This is the house of Peter the Great. It was built at the mouth of the Northern Dvina River. Peter I lived there for about two months in 1702, during the construction of the fortress in Arkhangelsk. In 1930 the house was moved to Moscow. According to historical documents in the house, the interior of that era was recreated.

Kolomna bell tower

This is a beautiful and rather rare example of the Russian bell-building of the late 16th century. With its clear lines, she emphasized the splendor of the Temple of the Ascension of the Lord.

Near the bell tower you can hear a subtle and melodic ringing. This sounds the original musical instrument "beat", which is perfectly mastered by local performers. On a special manufactured frame fixed thin plates of bell bronze. Wonderful melodies are performed with the help of special hammers.

Vodovzvodnaya Tower

The tower performed two functions: by means of mechanisms it raised water into reservoirs and spread it along pipes according to its purpose, and in addition, it was used as a gateway leading to the Ascension garden and the village of Djakovo. Now the water tower, like other office facilities, is not operated.

No less valuable are the Kolomna oaks, which turned more than 400 years old. If you believe the legends, then in their shadow, the future emperor Peter I.

Voices of ravine

In ancient times he had other, more suitable names - the Kolomensky stream, the Tsar's ravine, the Palace ravine, etc. As the modern name appeared - it is not known. It stretches for more than a kilometer. On its bottom flows a small stream, flowing into the Moscow River.

At the bottom of the ravine, you can see two boulders of sandstone, of very impressive size, which are natural monuments. There is a legend that George the Victorious in this place overtook the Serpent. In the fight against him, the warrior's horse was killed. His remains and symbolize these stones.

In addition, there is a "girlish stone". According to beliefs, he fulfills wishes and heals from diseases.

Aptekarsky kitchen garden
