The history of the birth of the icon

The meeting took place, and it happened in the Temple of Jerusalem, on the Day of the Lord's Day - one of the great Christian holidays, when Jesus reached the age of 40 days, and the Elder almost 300 years. His eyes revealed the depth of pain and suffering, to which the holy mother and son are doomed. The measure of suffering for Mary Simeon figuratively defined the family arrows, which pierced her heart. Therefore, the icon "The Seven-Shot God's Mother", as well as the one with it on the iconography "Softening the Evil Hearts", depict the Mother of God (without the Son), whose heart is pierced by 7 arrows or swords located on both sides of the Virgin Mary. If the swords are 6, then the Virgin Mary holds the baby Jesus in her arms. Some sources connect the figure 7 not only with the suffering that has fallen to her share, but also with the number of the most serious human sins from which Prisnodeva wants to save people.

Myths about the icon of the seven-arrow

The very icon "The seven-sided Mother of God", incredibly worshiped by the Orthodox, has its own background. Found it in the Vologda region, in the 17th century, when the incurably sick peasant in a dream was a revelation. He was commanded in the bell tower of the St. John the Theological Church, which is located by the river Toshna, to find the icon, after praying which he will recover. Three times he was not allowed into the belfry, assuring that there are no images. The search lasted a long time, and the image was found on the stairs, in the dust and mud, where its back side served as a step. The icon "The seven-sided Mother of God" was made on canvas and attached to the board. After the restoration (washing and cleaning), it was suggested that this is a list from the ancient icon of the northern peoples of Russia, which is not less than 600 years old. The peasant of the Kadikovo district of the Vologda province has fully recovered, and the fame of the miraculous icon spread across the district. In recent years, many believers have been turning to this shrine more and more often before some kind of litigation, in the days of despondency and asking Mary for mercy and reconciliation of the warring.
