Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi: history and photo

On the Yaroslavl highway, which was once called Troitskaya road, there is an amazing beauty temple, built in honor of one of the most revered icon of the Virgin - Vladimir. Much is remembered and much could tell its walls, which are witnesses of the last three centuries of the history of our country. What do they store in their memory?

The first documentary evidence of the temple

When the heavy hour of the Time of Troubles passed, the peasants of the villages that were in the place of the present-day regional city of Mytischi left their ruined houses and settled near the Troitsky tract, where taxes were once collected, or, as they used to say, . From this archaic expression, which gave the root to the evangelical word "tax collector" - the collector of taxes, the name of the soon formed village of Mytischi happened, in which the wooden church was moved from its former place.

Data on when the present temple of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God was built in Mytishchi is not known, it is only known that the first documentary mention of it, connected with the consecration of the newly re-established throne, dates back to 1713. For lack of more accurate information, this year is usually considered the date of its foundation.

The next time, in 1735, the same temple was mentioned in the petition of his elders Ivan Trofimov about the permission to pave in it a stone floor instead of a wooden one - "badly rotten and dilapidated". By diocesan authorities this good endeavor was approved, and the temple in Mytishchi acquired not only stone slabs, which for centuries had paved its floor, but also carved stone thrones.

Voluntary donors

In the old days it was customary to build on conscience, especially when it came to church buildings. They were afraid: how well will negligence be remembered at the Last Judgment. But time was taking its toll, and even the temples of God came to shambles. The common fate was shared by the temple of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi. Soon after Napoleon's expulsion from the Russian borders, his abbot had to be subcontracted by a team of bricklayers to dismantle the bell towers and the old refectory.

Dismantling - this is half the battle, and where to get money for a new construction? But all the same rector father Dimitry (Fedotov) fairly stirred the hearts of the parishioners, reminding them that only the sacrificed to the neighbor and the church of God will become their "unforgiving treasure in heaven." For a long time he spoke, quoting the Holy Scriptures and appealing to the conscience of Mytishchi peasants, but he achieved his goal. Unleashing lean moshny, they helped the orthodox holy cause. In 1814 the diocesan bishop solemnly consecrated the new refectory and the bell tower erected above it.

God's protection over the engineering structure

It is interesting to note that the temple of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi played a significant role in a matter that seemed to be far from religion, like Moscow's water supply. The fact is that near him, the water that blew from the Holy Land, or, as it was still called, the Thundering Key, gave rise to the first Moscow water pipe laid in 1804.

But will the water regularly flow through the pipes if there is no God's favor? So, for this reason, the annual processions from the temple to the Holy Key were arranged with prayers and subsequent water services, thanks to which water flowed from the cranes of Moscow apartments.

The last pre-revolutionary years

In 1906, a small church was assigned to the temple in Mytishchi, which was not far from it in the village of Perlovsky. The hassle, of course, increased, but the staff, thank God, increased. This enabled the rector of the church, Father Nikolay (Protopopov), to apply to the Consistory with a request for funds for the construction of a church and parish school. It can be seen that this time the Mytishchi peasants became fussy, but what to take from them - God will forgive.

The consistorial fathers allocated money, and in 1912 a school was built on them, in which the children of the surrounding inhabitants were taught literacy free of charge. There were also classes with adults on catechesis, that is, studying the foundations of Orthodoxy. As a result, thanks to the works of the priest Nikolai Protopopov, a whole generation of Mytishchi grew up literate and pious.

In the grip of God-oppressive power

In 1929, local, already Soviet authorities decided to close the temple of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi to close - as a hotbed of false teaching, which runs counter to the ideology of the Bolshevik party. But there was an unexpected - always submissive and used to keep silent people suddenly rebelled. To the temple of God gathered more than six hundred people protesting against its closure. But in those years, "dvushechkoy" was not to get rid of - for a long time already went to the north echelons with convicts on the fifty-eighth article.

And the authorities retreated. The temple continued to function, although two of its priests, as "organizers of the riots," were nevertheless exiled to Solovki. However, the parishioners were left alone. In the thirties, having suffered yet another setback, trying to close the temple once again, the local leadership ordered the removal of a large bell from its bell tower and the demolition of the chapel next to it. In the middle of the thirties, the authorities in their filths went even further, passing the church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi to the Renovated people, which had risen across the throat.

This story is by no means new. Renovationists are a schismatic movement within the Orthodox Church. His followers were in favor of changing the Church Charter, making changes in worship services and trying to cooperate with the Bolsheviks. Those for the time being did them all kinds of indulgences, including the transfer to their disposal of the numerous churches taken away from the Moscow Patriarchate.

The final trampling of the shrine

During the war the temple of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi (the photo of those years is given in the article) was finally closed. His bell tower was demolished, and the building itself, having been rebuilt fairly, was used since then for economic needs. In those years, the external features of many industrial buildings eloquently testified that once these buildings were churches of God. The temple of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi did not escape the common fate.

Schedule of services - the first swallow of the revival of the life of the temple

Only in 1991, on the wave of "universal spiritual insight," the mutilated and defiled church was returned to its true owners - the Mytishchi Orthodox community. The first divine service was performed in May of the same year. However, there was a big and complex reconstruction work ahead of us, which lasted for five years. A significant part of this period of service was conducted in a neighboring house belonging to one of the parishioners.

As a result of the work of a large number of builders and restorers, by 1996, finally, its original form was the long-suffering church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi. The schedule of services, which appeared at his entrance, became a clear indication that the religious life of the parish had entered its course. By the grace of God every day at 8:30 begins reading the Hours and the subsequent liturgy, and at 17:00 - evening service. On Sundays and holidays, two liturgies are performed - early at 6:30 and late at 9:30.
