Sweet pepper: cultivation and care from seeds to fruits

In Russia, sweet pepper is gaining popularity . Cultivation and care of it begins with the preparation of seeds. They sow it in the middle of February (for the middle belt) or in the second decade of March (for the southern regions).

Seeds

Before sowing seeds are soaked in a solution of potassium permanganate raspberry for disinfection and swelling for several hours. Then they need to be dried to flowability.

Priming

Before growing sweet peppers through seedlings, you need to properly prepare the soil. To do this, take 5 liters of sod land, as much humus, add two glasses of sand and 1-2 cups of ash. Of mineral fertilizers will require: 2 tbsp. L. Nitrofoski or other complex fertilizer, consisting of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus. Boxes or seedlings for 8-10 cm fill with warm, prepared soil, which should be slightly compacted and poured with pink solution of potassium permanganate. As containers for plants, you can use cross-cut packages (tetrapaks) from juice or milk with a volume of 1-1.5 liters with holes made (1 cm from the bottom) on the side faces.

Sowing

In order to freely feel sweet pepper, growing and caring for which requires some painstakingness, especially at the initial stage of vegetation, the seeds in the boxes are placed at a distance of 7-8 cm from each other. In the seedlings for one thing. Seeded seeds should be sprinkled with soil (1 cm) and compacted, moisten the ground with water from the spray gun. To prevent evaporation of moisture, cover the container with glass or polyethylene before emergence (5-7 days). The temperature is maintained within the range of +23 ... +26 deg. When the first shoots appear, the coating is removed.

Seedling

All seedlings at the beginning of vegetation suffer from lack of sunlight, including sweet pepper. Cultivation and care of it is reduced to maintaining a certain temperature regime (in the daytime +25, at night +20) and illumination by daylight lamps. And also to watering with warm water as the soil dries (every 5-7 days).

Transplanting

The soil under the planting of pepper is filled with humus and mineral fertilizer, consisting of phosphorus and potassium (according to the instructions).

When plants have 10-12 leaves and first buds, they are planted in the ground. Sweet pepper in the greenhouse is placed in the early days of May, and in open ground - in late May - early June.

Peppers in the open ground

In open ground to the place where cabbage, onions or carrots grew last year, the sweet pepper is planted. Cultivation and care consists of regular watering, timely loosening of the soil in row-spacing and weeding as needed.

The first feeding in June is made with potassium and phosphorus, the second in July - with potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen, the third in August - with nitrogen and phosphorus (according to the instructions).

Sweet pepper in the greenhouse

Soil dressing and top dressing are the same as for open ground. In the greenhouse, care must be taken to ensure that the condensate does not settle on the leaves of plants and that the ventilation is carried out in sufficient volume. To do this, it is desirable to wallow the soil (stale sawdust, straw, perforated paper, etc.) and close the windowpanes only for the night. The distance between plants in the greenhouse should be 50 - 100 cm, depending on the varietal characteristics.

Good harvest!
