Subacute muscle: functions, location, exercises
In the human body - a huge number of very different muscles. And each of them has its own purpose. Muscles of the shoulder girdle are very important for the motor activity of a person. Small, but important for movement is the subacute muscle, which enters the shoulder girdle. What is this muscle and what is it for?
Shoulder girdle
First of all, it is necessary to consider what this belt is and what its functions are. Between the trunk and the free upper limb the uniting link is precisely the shoulder girdle. His muscles cover the shoulder joint from all sides, thereby strengthening it. With their reduction, a variety of hand movements are provided. They begin on the scapula and collarbone and attach to the upper part of the humerus. The main function is the movement of the arm in the shoulder joint.
The muscles of the shoulder girdle include the following: deltoid, supraspinatus and subacute muscles, large and small round, and also subscapular. Let's talk in this article about the subacute.
Location:
The subordinate muscle refers to deep, small dorsal muscles. It is located under the spine of the scapula, in an area called the subacute fossa of the scapula. Because the subacute muscle is flat, it occupies almost the entire volume of the fossa, attaching to it. It ends with tendon tufts, which attach to the large tubercle of the humerus.
Purpose
What is the function of the subaccess? The main purpose is to participate in the following hand movements:
- The turn of the shoulder from the torso outward;
- Drawing back the raised shoulder.
This muscle also partially participates in extension of the arm in the shoulder joint. Due to the fact that it is attached also to the capsule of the shoulder girdle, when carrying out movements, it stretches it and thereby protects from pinching.
Pain syndrome
The reason that the subacute muscle of the shoulder makes you pay attention is very simple. After all, her damage is the most common source of pain in the shoulder. Such damage can occur due to too high loads when practicing various sports: swimming, baseball or tennis. Any load that requires intensive hand rotation can result in injury. However, sedentary activities are also capable of causing spasms in the subaccess, as well as pain in the region of the shoulder joint. This can lead to driving or working on a computer.
For the treatment of pain of the subaccess muscle there are many methods. In more cases, when the muscle is damaged slightly, the massage helps, as well as physical exercises that restore elasticity and normal muscle tone. If lesions and injuries are more serious, treatment with medication, physiotherapy, as well as anesthesia in places of injury takes place.
Massage of the subaccess
As with any other massage, the main goal here is to improve blood circulation and relax the spasized muscle. The simplest, but at the same time, quite effective method of massage of the subaccess is the following. It is performed in a supine position. You need to put a small ball the size of a tennis ball, under the points on your back that are the most painful, and then relax for a few minutes. When this method is properly performed, the muscles get relaxed, and the pain disappears.
Exercises
Stretching of the subaccess
- The first stretching exercise: you need to bring your arm behind your back at the level of the waist, then the other hand gently pull from the back and up. In this position, you must hold your hand for twenty seconds.
- The second exercise on stretching: you need to try to reach the opposite blade with your fingers.
- The third stretching exercise: the hand should be pulled out in front of the chest and with the help of the second hand it should be directed towards the other half of the chest. Only do this without strong tension. In this position, the hand is held for twenty seconds.
Strengthening of the subaccess
For the reason that this muscle is not the most active in the body, for its development, it needs a few specific exercises. The most effective in this regard are exercises in which blocks are used. For example, the horizontal traction to the chest with different grips or the upper traction very well develop the subacute muscle, as a result of which it strengthens and prevents stress injuries.
