Sport injury of the shoulder joint

Practically every sport is associated with injuries. The most common of these are commonplace bruises, sprains and dislocations, including the knee and shoulder joint. These are common injuries that are inevitable during training and competition. But nevertheless the dislocations can lead to serious complications. Therefore, their injuries must be treated immediately. But if everything is quite simple with the knee joint , then the restoration of the shoulder joint requires more time and effort.

The most traumatic for the shoulder belt is cycling, martial arts, handball, skiing, snowboarding. These sports are associated with constant falls, which can lead to dislocation of the shoulder joint. The degree of injury can be different. This is an easy stretching, and a complete rupture of ligaments. In the worst case, it becomes visually visible bulging clavicle - in medicine, this trauma is called a "piano key" symptom.

If we consider the main symptoms of dislocation of the shoulder joint, then there are not many of them. But they make it clear about the nature of the damage. So, the trauma of the joint is indicated by severe pain and swelling. The first help in case of a dislocation is a reliable fixation of the limb in the most convenient and painless position. This can be done with a kerchief or any other wide fabric. To reduce puffiness, it is necessary to apply an ice compress to the damaged area.

If the injury is not strong, and the ligaments are only slightly torn, then after a while it will heal itself. But it will not be superfluous to do special exercises daily for the shoulder joint in order to return it full mobility faster. Physiotherapy procedures are also helpful. If the trauma is more complicated, the ligaments are torn, but the damage did not affect the coracoid-brachial and clavicular region, then the best treatment is arthroscopy. The consequences of such a trauma can be quite serious, in some cases, arthrosis of the shoulder develops.

Sometimes with dislocations of the shoulder joint, surgical intervention can not be avoided. It is necessary if the damage affects the ligaments between the clavicle and scapula. This is, of course, a simple operation, but its risk is largely due to the fact that under the clavicle there are not only nerves, but also large blood vessels. Therefore, there is always the danger of damage. The operation itself is performed with the purpose of sewing the torn fibers and stabilizing the joint with the help of special screws (wire).

The postoperative period is rather complicated. Due to metal fastenings, limb mobility is limited. When you try to raise your arm in the shoulder girdle, there is a tension that causes severe discomfort. Since metal screws can break, they tend to be taken out more quickly. Implants are only removed if an inflammatory process occurs. Physiotherapy and shoulder massage help strengthen the muscles and increase their endurance. Go back to the sport and start training again not earlier than three months.
