State Ural Mining University: faculties, specialties, reviews

State Ural Mining University is the last educational institution in Russia, which was created by order of the Tsar-Passion-Bearer. Further on, the article will provide information on its origin and development, as well as the faculties that make up its membership.

Historical background

In the summer of 1914 the State Council passed the Law on the Ural State Mining University. Later it was approved by Emperor Nicholas II. On the yacht "Standart", which belonged to the august person, its solemn approval was held. This event was of great importance in the development of the cultural life of the Urals and the whole country. In the autumn of 1915 the first meeting of the Construction Commission was held. The meeting was held in the city council of Yekaterinburg. It approved and approved a project in accordance with which the Ural State Mining and Geological University was to be built.

Laying the foundation

The work began in the following year. In the summer, a solemn laying of the foundations of the Ural Mining Institute took place. This great event was covered in local newspapers. A lot of people visited the solemn event. Well-known personalities also attended. Among them: PP Weimarn and other representatives of the Construction Commission, the city head of Yekaterinburg AE Obukhov, the chairman of the zemstvo board ED Kalugin, the governor of Perm, MA Lozin-Lozinsky, the head of the plants of the Urals, PI Egorov and others.

First difficulties

At the initial stage of development, the State Ural Mining University was experiencing many problems. He needed help and support. Weimarn had considerations on this score. He believed that the most reliable support would be the support of the top officials of the state. In particular, the assistance rendered by the king himself. In addition, in this case there is no need to enlist material support. It would have been enough for the State Ural Mining University to bear the name of the emperor. The situation was resolved in this way. In 1916, members of the Construction Commission asked for help from the monarch. They made a petition for the protection of the institution of the tsarist special. They needed to achieve that the educational institution was called "Ural Mining Institute of Emperor Nicholas II." After some time, the monarch gave them permission to have the institution bear such a name.

Opening of the Institute

In 1917 it was clear that the Construction Commission had done a tremendous job to establish the institution. All this activity was directed by Weimar. As a result, it was decided that enough has already been done to open the institute. In the summer of the same year, the Provisional Government gave permission to open a reception at the State Ural Mining University. There were difficult military times. Contrary to all there was a huge number of people wishing to enter the Ural State Mining University (USMU). The Council of the institution received about six hundred petitions. Among them were statements from graduates of women's and classical gymnasiums, technical, commercial and real schools, theological seminaries, cadet corps, teachers' institutes and other higher educational institutions. About three hundred students were enrolled in the first year. A certain part of them was adopted without conducting an introductory test procedure. This was due to one of the reasons for the high liquidity of the old higher school - it was autonomous.

Deciding on enrollment

A large group of school leavers in Yekaterinburg filed an application with the Council of the Institute. Among these young people was Alexander Nikolayevich Igumnov, who later took up the post of senior research fellow of the Mining Institute and is a famous Urals mineralogist. The application was submitted with the request to enroll them in this higher educational institution without conducting entrance examinations. The reason for this request was a lack of funds that were necessary to prepare for the tests. This application was considered and supported by the City Duma. As a result, the Council of the Institute decided that it can be met.

State

The Ural State Mining University (Yekaterinburg) had academic staff, which did not comply with the norms of the current legislation. Initially, it employed about seventeen professors and persons performing their duties. Also in the Institute there were 4 associate professors. The collective consisted mainly of cultured, educated and highly qualified specialists. Some of them were graduates of the St. Petersburg Mining Institute and other higher educational institutions. Many members of the teaching staff had a degree of doctors from foreign universities. For example, from Göttingen, Edinburgh, Geneva and other universities. The Council of the Institute held its first meeting. The Provisional Government approved the entire list of professors and teachers of the institution. Nevertheless, the Council of the Institute decided to re-elect the rector and other important members of the staff. All the necessary measures were taken to resolve all issues concerning teaching.
