Special equipment: gas meters

Gas meters are technical devices specially designed for measuring the volume of gas that passes through a gas pipeline within a certain time interval. In other words, these devices are used to account for energy consumption. Gas meters help to efficiently maintain a record of consumption and provide an opportunity to save significant funds. Like any other measuring device, these devices undergo mandatory examination to establish fitness. The primary verification of gas meters is carried out during production at the factory, and periodic testing is carried out in the process of direct operation.

Modern devices, according to their capacity, can be divided into three main categories. The first group includes industrial devices used by large enterprises and installed on large gas mains. The capacity of such devices is about 40 m / hour. The second group includes a variety of models of household appliances. Such gas meters are used, as a rule, in enclosed spaces. For example, in office buildings or apartments. The carrying capacity of devices of this type does not exceed 6 m / h. The third group of devices includes communal appliances, mainly used at special gas distribution stations. Communal household meters are characterized by a rather high capacity, starting from 10 m / h. Today, such devices are most often installed on gas filling stations.

However, not only can the capacity be the basis for the separation of gas meters into classes, but also their operating principle. The most unclaimed at the moment is a drum gas meter, which is used, as a rule, in scientific centers and research laboratories. The principle of operation of such a device is very simple. A drum rotating by means of a gas passing through it drives a certain mechanism which is connected to the counter. The second type is a vortex counter, based on the calculation of the periodicity of the appearance of vortex flows around a given streamlined object (using a gas flow).

One of the most common to date are instruments of the third type - membrane gas meters. In this case, the main principle of action is the special moving parts, which are constituent elements of these devices. The incoming gas is divided into certain fractions, after which production and summation of all necessary indications is carried out.

And the last, the fourth type - is a rotary, or gas meter RVG, which was developed due to the increase in the types of gas equipment. The principle of its operation is extremely simple. There are two rotors (or more) inside the device. It depends on the intended use of the device. Passing through them gas transfers them certain mechanical vibrations, and all data is automatically written into memory. This is one of the most versatile and easy to use devices of this type.

These or other types of gas meters are used in the modern world everywhere. When buying these devices, first of all you should take into account the volume of energy consumption and what specific needs this device requires. It is these indicators that will help you better navigate in the presented diversity and choose an appropriate gas consumption accounting device.
