Social scholarship

Social scholarship is money that is paid to students of budgetary forms of education regardless of their academic performance. In this case, students should have confirmation of involvement in a group of people in need of financial assistance.

In particular, to those, according to the current legislation, are:

1. Persons left without parental care (orphans), whose age does not exceed 23 years.

2. Students who are assigned a disability group I or II.

3. Persons who took part in hostilities, or received disability in their course.

4. Students who have suffered as a result of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant or other catastrophe of this magnitude.

This list is officially confirmed by the Government of the Russian Federation. However, universities can expand at their discretion a list of groups that are assigned a social scholarship. In particular, such students are often referred to as:

- educated in a low-income family (with confirmation of income level);

- educated in a family where there is no breadwinner.

To find out the full list of students who have reason to consider themselves candidates for financial compensation, you can go to the educational institution where they come. In any case, it is necessary to present a number of papers, without which no social scholarship will be appointed.

Most often, the required documents include: birth certificate, death certificate of parents (or father in case of loss of bread-winner), written confirmation of disability issued by authorized bodies, and several others. Copies of such documents are provided to the dean's office, after which the issue of granting a scholarship to this or that student is decided.

It should be noted that the documents in the scholarship committee are surrendered once in the academic year, while the payment is made every month.

Social scholarships, as a rule, are the same in educational institutions of the same level. They are slightly higher than standard ones, but they are smaller than elevated ones. In the end, a decent amount of money runs into the student, which will not be superfluous.

However, quite often the scholarship committee faces the fact that students simply do not have the necessary documents, although a social scholarship can be assigned to them.

The fact is that it is often worthwhile to take care of the collection of the required package of securities in advance. For example, you are sure that you are entitled to a social scholarship, as the family income level is lower than the minimum subsistence level.

Where can this question be addressed?

If you enter a university located in a city other than the place of residence, you should worry about the collection of documents immediately after leaving school (if this was not done before). It is necessary to go to the specialized bodies of social. Protection located in the city of permanent registration. They will just prompt a list of documents, as well as enlighten on some other issues.

The bodies of social protection provide, in the first instance, information on what is the minimum subsistence level at the moment and in this area. On the basis of certificates of income (including scholarships, pensions and the actual wages of all family members), it is concluded whether the family belongs to the poor. If the answer is positive, then it is necessary to continue collecting documents: a certificate of the composition of the family, a certificate that indicates the income level of its members for several months, provide a passport. The first certificate can be obtained at the ZHES, the second one takes where the payment was made (organization, pension fund, university).

In other words, social scholarships in our country, although they are not some kind of huge compensation, will be useful for students. Do not hesitate to insist on your rights. The assigned social scholarship is paid to students from the moment of admission to the educational institution until the moment of graduation, or up to 23 years (with orphans).
