Seton-Thompson, "Royal Anastolanka". Summary of the Royal Anastolanka

The amazing world of animal life is one of the main themes that Ernest Seton-Thompson devoted his small works to. "Royal Anastolanka" - a story about a cat born and grown up in a slum. The captivating plot and the difficult fate of the homeless animal have for many years aroused keen interest among readers of different generations.

1 chapter. Salvation and loneliness

Scrimpensky lane was shouted by the cries of the liver merchant. Every day he gave out a treat to cats, whose owners paid in time for food. On the side waiting for the homeless animals, who sometimes managed to take away the booty from the lucky ones. Among them was an inconspicuous gray cat. So begins his story "The Royal Anastalist" Seton-Thompson.

Returning to the box that was her home, the gray cat saw a huge black cat devouring her cubs. Mother managed to save only one of them.

A few days later, the cat, who had climbed in search of food on the ship, was far from home. And her little descendant, born in a slum, was left all alone.

2-3 chapters. Independent life

Not waiting for his mother, the gray kitten went in search of food. This was not an easy task, as in the nearby garbage cans it was sometimes possible to find only a potato peel. Once the kitten fed the nigger, working in the shop of the seller of birds, Japanese Mali. But more often I had to hide, especially from evil dogs. For two months the hero of the story "Royal Anastolanka" has studied all the neighborhoods and learned to avoid danger. The real salvation for him was a new fishery - he learned to open loosely closed or damaged lids on cans of milk - they were left on the porch of regular buyers by the seller.

4-5 chapters. Happiness of motherhood

By August, the kitten had turned into a big cat with beautiful light gray wool. The black stripes and white spots, like those of the tiger, gave her incredible elegance.

Somehow next to the habitation of our heroine started a fight two big cats: already familiar black and came out to meet him half yellow. The latter won and won the heart of a beautiful woman. And in early October, the cat box appeared kittens. Mother experienced incredible happiness. Once, after a successful sortie, she, fed and happy, returned home. Suddenly a small brown creature appeared in front of her. The cat took him for a mouse and carried it to the box for his cubs. It was a rabbit who became a member of the family.

Happiness ended when the Japanese found kittens next to the shop and ordered the Negro to kill them. Returning to her box, her mother held a dead rat in her mouth. It saved her life - such a cat is always needed. Then the Negro crept up to the box where the cat and rabbit lay, and carried them to the bench. So the heroine of the story "Royal Anastalinka" was in captivity for the first time. For four days spent in a cage, her hair was washed and fluffed. The Japanese decided that the cat can be sold, and left it at home.

Chapter 6. Victory at the exhibition

Mali was cunning and earned on harboring stolen pedigreed cats and dogs. Now he was interested in an announcement about the purchase of animals on fur. The Japanese began an experiment on a slum cat. He treated the wool with a parasite remedy, washed it and put it on the street. The cold weather and good feeding have done their job. Very soon the cat turned into an incredibly beautiful animal with a fluffy, unusual coloring of fur. The Japanese and the Negro came up with her name - Royal Anastolanka - and a good pedigree. The delicacy of the Negro, who introduced himself as the owner's butler, combined with his magnificent appearance and skilfully prepared certificate provided the cat with the participation and victory in the exhibition.

7-8 of the chapter. Living with people

The Royal Anastolanka was sold for a hundred dollars in a luxury house. Growing up in a slum, she was never able to get used to a new way of life. She was caressed and tasty. A terrible behavior was attributed to aristocratic origin, eccentricity and impracticality of education. With great difficulty, the cat managed to escape from the hated house. However, she returned briefly to the slums: a Japanese and a Negro caught her and were returned for reward to Fifth Avenue.

And in the spring the cat was taken to the dacha. It was a long and unpleasant path, which is described in detail by Seton-Topson. The Royal Anastolanka immediately fell in love with the kitchen, where there was always a garbage can, and from the woman who cooked food smelled of native slums. And although the cat was fed in plenty, she felt unhappy and dreamed of returning home. Soon such a case turned up. The master's son tied a jar to the tail of the beauty, which caused him to hit with claws. Hearing howl, the boy's mother fired a book into the cat, and she rushed to run. Hiding in the attic, the Royal Anastalinka waited for the night, after which she set off on a long journey.

9-10 chapters. Homecoming

A lot of dangers lurked her on the way. They are angry dogs, threatening boys, and two-eyed monsters that were never seen before (on one of them they took her to the dacha). And almost constant hunger. During the day, she usually hid, and at night she started off. More than once I had to return back, including by ferry. At last she recognized the place on which she had walked during her first flight. A little more - and she will be in her own yard and climb into her box. So you can describe the journey of the heroine briefly.

The Royal Anastolanka was dumbfounded. Instead of habitual buildings and smells, she discovered ruins and mountains of debris. How could she know that they decided to build a bridge here?

The cat found shelter in one of the neighboring neighborhoods. September passed. Once, in search of food, the animal made its way to the bucket, hoping to find there slops. And suddenly the cat found on the handle familiar prints. And then I heard the voice of the Negro. He threw the animal a piece of meat, which was immediately seized by a cat and carried away to a safe place.

Chapter 11-12. Everything was arranged

The summary of "Royal Anastolanka" concludes with a story about the beginning of a new cat's life. Now she came to the door where the Negro lived and whenever she was hungry, she received food. Once, after a satisfying week, the cat found an almost fresh rat and decided to hide it. At that moment a homeowner came out of the familiar door with the negro. He was delighted with the cat-rat-cat, and he agreed to pay in part for her food. And the black man did not stint. Now the Royal Anastolanka got the biggest piece from the liver vendor. And although the cat never once caught a rat, the negro collected dead rodents and every time he got tired of everything so that they caught the eye of the owner of the house. In addition, he repeatedly sold his beauty (and the cat still looked luxurious and eclipsed all other of its relatives) in full confidence that very soon she would return back. After all, despite all the honors and imposed aristocratic title, in her heart she always remained a resident of the Khrushchev.

This is the summary of the "Royal Anastolanka" - one of the best works of Ernest Seton-Thompson.
