Rotation: what it is and why it is needed

Rotation - what is it? In fact, this term means moving from one place to another element within one group. For example, the rotation of personnel within an organization, that is, the transfer of employees from one position to another, can be cited.

Also answering the question: "Rotation - what is this?", You can explain it as moving ads on the Internet. In this case, they move in an arbitrary order, changing periodically.

Moving employees within an organization

The rotation of employees involves the transfer of company personnel from one position to another within the enterprise or the department for production necessity. The key factor in this movement of employees is the change of position. It:

  1. Promotion. In this case, with the constant scope of activity, responsibility increases and the range of responsibilities expands. The salary also increases. Vertical career growth is the most common situation that can be considered when answering the question: "Rotation - what is it?" If the vacant seat of the middle manager, for example, the deputy head or the head of the department, is vacated, in most cases this place is occupied by one of the former subordinates.
  2. Change of the title of the post. In this case, the duties remain the same, only the name changes.
  3. Change the location of the office. Job duties and the title of the position in this case do not change, only the address of the workplace changes. At the same time it can be like another district, and another country.
  4. Changing the scope of activities and job responsibilities. This development occurs in the horizontal direction. The employee in this case moves to a completely new position and develops a sphere of activity unfamiliar to him.

When you need to move employees

The rotation of civil servants is mainly based on their own initiative. The employee becomes the initiator of the transfer process in the event that the previous job responsibilities become uninteresting to him when he realizes that his professional burnout is approaching and that he has nowhere else to grow.

Also rotation is required if the employee is satisfied with the organization in which he works, but it becomes more difficult for him to fulfill his duties, and the results of his activities do not bring the same satisfaction. For such an employee, dismissal is not a way out of the situation, and he prefers to seek employment in the same company, but in a new position.

Rotation process initiated by the employer

If the management of the company does not want to miss a promising employee who aspires to develop professionally, then in this case rotation is necessary. What is it? In this situation, it is more profitable for an organization to provide the employee with new opportunities, rather than allowing his transition to competitors.

If the employee does not cope with the duties assigned to him, then, in order not to fire, he is retrained and demoted. Also rotation is used in the reorganization of departments and the opening of new directions in business.

It is important to understand when explaining the term "rotation" that this process is competently organized, and not spontaneous. The transfer of employees to new jobs should be made for the development of the company. This process is interlinked with other work processes - training, assessment or adaptation of personnel in a new location.
