The main botanical garden of NV Tsitsin was founded in the capital on April 14, 1945. And this is not a mistake - an official victory was not yet won in the Great Patriotic War, and the Academy of Sciences of the USSR was already concerned with the conservation and study of the flora. Since the adoption of the decision to create it, it was decided that the Main Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR will not only become a place where plants will collect and accumulate but be actively explored. The organization immediately received the rank of the first category research institute. To create the garden, the Ostankino forest park was highlighted - a picturesque place in which several small rivers flow, the total area of which is about 360 hectares.
