Reserve army of Ukraine and Russia

The word "reserve" in Latin means "save". In the dictionary it is explained like this:

1. Stored resources, stocks or cash that can be used as needed for specific purposes.

2. A place from which you can take the necessary additional forces or materials.

3. Human resources and part of the army, saved for the solution of unforeseen tasks and rendering assistance to the active armed forces and the fleet.

Reserve army of Russia

The Ministry of Defense is preparing a project to create several reserve armies in the near future. Their personnel will consist of people who continue to work at their enterprises in different positions, but periodically participate in military training. For this they will receive a monthly salary and will be ready at the right time to come to the gathering point, get weapons and take part in various military activities.

These measures will help both reservists and Russian troops to be in good combat readiness. The reserve army will be appropriately trained in its own defense and the necessary military actions.

It will consist only of volunteers whose term of service is over. Each reservist is assigned to a specific military unit, a place is assigned to him, and here he is retrained, remembers and improves combat skills. These people, who have not yet lost their military experience, will perform their duties much better, and their preparedness for exercises or real combat actions will be much higher.

When there is an overabundance of labor in the country, in other words, there are many unemployed people, the so-called reserve army of labor arises. She is quite powerless, she does not have any social guarantees, she does not take any serious positions in the market.

During the economic stagnation, the labor market is constantly replenishing the reserve army. But if there are various difficulties or force majeure circumstances in the country or regions, then this number of free hands can be used to solve industrial problems of any complexity.

The labor reserve is usually attracted to perform public events. Workplaces and registration are created by employers, and the city administration determines the status and wages.

What military analysts say

There is an opinion that the contract reserve is a very correct approach to military policy. Now in Russia, the majority of men undergo an urgent army service. This is a very important aspect of public life. The reserve army can facilitate the transition to the denial of conscription. The plus of this proposal is that employees in the reserve can support themselves and not lose military qualifications through exercises and fees.

According to military analysts, in order to fully deploy in the event of emergency military operations, it is necessary to have in reserve a front of reserve armies, including at least 200,000 volunteers.

It is planned that a person who has entered the service on a contract to the reserve continues to work in a regular enterprise, but about a couple of times a month for a weekend he is taken to study in a military unit and attracted twice a year to participate in large exercises.

For all this, he is entitled to a salary and all the benefits enjoyed by ordinary servicemen in the service of the state.

It is estimated that the reserve army of Russia will cost the treasury approximately one and a half billion rubles a year.

Advantages and disadvantages of the project

This idea is not new, as many countries have many years of experience in creating such units. But it is necessary to think over the details first, because, apart from the undoubted benefits, this project can bring considerable harm. The Ministry of Defense is not able to track all citizens who have methods of conducting combat.

There are also employers, private enterprises that may simply not obey orders, and many reservists will have problems associated with a lack of work during training or fees. Here you need a properly designed system, according to which the employee can not be dismissed. If this can not be avoided, the reserve army must issue compensation for the loss of work.

In the US, the National Guard is formed, which is the country's military reserve. It includes former servicemen who have signed a contract with the Pentagon. They regularly take part in the training sessions and once a week must attend military training classes.

The governors of states in which the units of the national guard are located can attract them in the event of emergency situations. In these cases, guardsmen serve as internal troops. By order of the president, the reserve army can be used outside the US to support the main military forces. For example, in the resolution of conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, about three hundred thousand guards took part.

The Institute of Reserves-Contractors of Russia is built practically following the example of the American National Guard.

Reservists of Ukraine

In Ukraine, a decision was made to establish regular military formations and a reserve army. And if the National Guard already exists and is financed from the treasury of the country, the URA (the Ukrainian reserve army) is just beginning its entry into the defense of Ukraine on a voluntary basis. I must say that for the country this is a completely new education, and it is still unknown whether it is in a position to help the army in protecting its territory.

Reserves and exercises of reservists

Three days are given for training, for which they must get familiar with the drills, hand-to-hand combat, assembly of weapons, and firing.

The objectives of the reserve army

Participants in the movement believe that the Ukrainian reserve army should consist of smart, honest and responsible patriots who are ready without hesitation to stand up for the defense of the Fatherland. For the younger generation, the URA should become a model of ethics and morality.

It is in no way a competitor of the Ministry of Defense, but it can significantly help in strengthening the defense capacity of the country on a voluntary basis.

The reserve army of Ukraine has chosen as its target audience citizens who are not covered by mobilization. On the basis of the Society for the Advancement of Defense, reservists are trained in minimal combat skills, and for former military personnel, the same skills are restored. Service in reserve is one of the ways to immediately make both civil and military careers.
