Prepare the Japanese dish "Oyakodon"?

As you know, Japanese cuisine is famous for its recipes that have gained popularity all over the world. Traditional treats of the Land of the Rising Sun are distinguished by their unique taste and various combinations. Such dishes as sushi, curry with rice, udon (noodles) and ramen, are widely known. However, the national cuisine of the island state also has no less delicious treats, but not so popular. For example, the Japanese dish "Oyakodon". It is prepared simply and quickly, and the result is able to satisfy the most demanding gourmets.

The meaning of the word "oyacodon"

When cooking a dish of another country, sometimes it is interesting to find out what is the meaning of its name. So, the Japanese dish "Oyakodon" in Japanese is written this way: 親子 . The very same word means "a cup of rice with chicken and eggs." Why did the Japanese choose this name for this dish? The first character 親 (oy) has the meaning "parent", the second 子 (co) - "child", and the third 丼 (don) - "cup". If the last component of the word is clear, then the use of the first two parts is not entirely clear. Local residents explain this very simply: the parent is a chicken, and the egg is her child. Since both products are used in preparing the food, the dish was given a rather symbolic name.

How is "Oyakodon" prepared?

In order to cook this Japanese dish, you need these products:

  • Chicken fillet or chicken leg (300 g).
  • Rice (half a cup).
  • Eggs (3 pieces).
  • Onion (one middle head).
  • Soy sauce (6 spoonfuls).
  • Plum wine Mirin or sugar (2 tablespoons) and parsley.

The procedure for preparing the Japanese dish "Oyakodon" is presented below.

  1. Cook rice in such a quantity of water that it was about twice the volume of cereal. Salt to taste, in an almost ready-made mass, you can add a little oil.
  2. In a frying pan heat the soy sauce with a small amount of water (2 tablespoons) and sugar. In this liquid, pass about 5 minutes onions cut into half rings, it is possible to salt a little.
  3. Chicken meat cut into medium pieces and add to onions, fry well, stirring, at the end add parsley.
  4. Without subtracting the fire, pour the entire mass with eggs, whipped with a pinch of salt.
  5. Deep bowl filled with rice, and on top put an omelet with chicken pieces.

It can be noted that the main cereal crop in the traditional cuisine of the island state is rice. This product is used in many national food of the country, it can also be served separately as a separate dish. As an example, the Japanese dish "Curry with rice" can be cited.

To make it, you need onions and carrots, cut into slices, fry in preheated oil. You can add chunks of chicken, stew for about 10 minutes, salt and sprinkle curry (1 tbsp.). Pour a small amount of white wine and cream (to taste). On the plate lay the rice and top with the sauce "Curry with chicken".

Despite the fact that exotic food is required for special treats, they can be replaced by domestic products with similar qualities and at the same time to get a good result.
