How are American pancakes different from traditional Russians?

There is nothing surprising in the fact that when using almost the same ingredients for both Russian and American pancakes, the result is significantly different. And how can you explain the fact that when cooked according to the same recipe dishes have different taste qualities? Yes, there to say - one mistress is preparing the same notorious borsch, using similar products, each time in different ways. Therefore, American pancakes, prepared at first glance, just like ours, differ in taste and appearance from the usual for us. So what is the difference?

Traditional recipe. Pancakes in American style

  • Flour 150 g

  • Milk - 130 ml
  • Butter (melted) or olive oil - 2 tbsp. Spoons
  • Baking powder for the dough - 1 tsp.
  • Salt - 0.5 tsp.
  • Egg - 1 pc.

American pancakes are a dish that is ideal for breakfast. Their distinctive feature from the usual pancakes for us is the addition of berries (usually blueberries). For all its tenderness and lightness, nevertheless, they are more dense and downtrodden than the Russians.

Preparation:

Sugar powder, salt and baking powder are added to the sifted flour. In a lightly beaten egg with milk, add the melted butter, the resulting mixture is poured into the flour and thoroughly stirred with a fork until smooth consistency and softness. Even if there were lumps - they quickly dissolve. Then the dough is set aside for a few minutes.

Meanwhile, they heat the frying pan and melt the butter. As usual, on a heated frying pan, the dough is poured into the ladle. It is worth noting that American pancakes will get thicker than usual for us, but it should be so. Turn the pancakes to the other side after the bubbles appear on their surface and bake, alternately turning to both sides, until golden color is obtained.

American pancakes are served with butter or maple syrup.

In addition - which is not especially usual for us - fried bacon is served to pancakes stuffed with maple syrup . What seemed unacceptable, in fact, it is very delicious! The combination of American pancakes with maple syrup and a salty crispy bacon is quite refined taste.

American pancakes or so-called pancakes have a more dense consistency that does not spoil them at all, but instead makes them quite an original dish that is successfully served with honey, butter, maple syrup, sour cream or bacon. This is American food. Pancakes in American style will be a good idea for a Sunday late family lunch, as is customary in the US. The products that are needed to make this "overseas" dish are sold in our stores and are ideal for it. But at the same time it is worth noting that those who have tried this dish in its historic homeland will not always be able to achieve complete identity. Americans like to eat, but they rarely cook homemade food. That is why they eat fast in fast food, consuming food in huge quantities, for example, an acceptable order for an average American can consist of a huge sandwich, three large portions of French fries, and all this is consumed with a liter glass of cola! In addition, they constantly chew something. That's why so many people of this nationality suffer from excessive weight. But only cooked at home or in an expensive restaurant is really real American food, everything else is not a useful, quick-cooked and cheap product of corporate culture. Eat right and stay healthy!
