Biography

Ilya Medkov was born in the family of a doctor in Moscow in 1967, on February 27. In the Chemical-Technological Institute. Mendeleev (Moscow) he entered in 1983. The first three years the newly-born student was engaged in samizdat business, and in 1984 he transferred to the journalism faculty of Moscow State University, where in 1988 he was expelled. In the same year in the publishing house Kommersant he began to work as a freelancer.

Then Ilya Medkov becomes a partner of the Moscow banker Angelika Arkady. Together with him, in 1990, in February, he co-founded the co-operative "Pragma", which dealt with the import of personal computers from the United States and Japan.
