Millet Petrozza: personal life and family

The leader of the famous thrash metal band Kreator Miland (Millet) Petrozza was born in 1967. His parents emigrated from Italy to Germany before his birth. Music attracted the boy from early childhood, and so the career began early and successfully. Already in 1982, Millet Petrotzza, the guitarist of the school ensemble, founded Tormentor, a group later renamed, in which he is now a rhythm and solo guitarist, and also sings.

New genre

This group stood at the very beginning of the birth of a new direction in the metal, from which all its extreme varieties came. Millet Petrozza made a huge contribution to the development of style. Thrash metal itself is toughness itself, aggression itself at great speed, it's an abundance of riffs in the low range, it's high-tech like shredded rhythmic figures at high frequencies, it's a wild bass tremolo and almost always a dissonant vocal line.

However, all this together sounds surprisingly harmonious and thoughtful, even if expressive and forced, but you can not deny these compositions in musicality. Listening to what comes out of the strings of Mille Petrozza, it can be noted that the construction, of course, is complex, with elements of blues and jazz, with many chromaticities, a change of harmony and size. Lada most often used too not too run-in: the Locrio and the pentatonic. The texts are densely packed with criticism and the designation of all sorts of social injustices. Perceived not Vivaldi, of course, but nevertheless - real music.

Kreator

A little bit about the name of the band that quickly became cult. Kreator is a multi-valued word. If from Latin - you can translate as a creator, creator, if from ancient German - this is the name of one of the most terrible demons. And modern German, changing one letter, treats this word as "creature" (Kreatur). And just now no one will remember, since the name was invented in 1982, what exactly did Mill Petrozza mean.

Religion and thrash metal are two things that are almost incompatible, and the group leader believes that in principle people do not need it. However, in the lyrics sometimes religiosity slips. True, the sound design of this theme is such that Satanists will soon be remembered. Kreator quickly gained popularity outside Essen, where this group was born, and then they were recognized by the whole world.

Start

So, in 1982 in the city of Essen, West Germany, fifteen-sixteen-year-old school friends met: drummer Jürgen Reil, bassist Roberto Fioretti and guitarist Millet Petrotz. The photo of that time is not available in the open space of the Internet, but even after five or six years they look serious, but still very young. The boys decided to meet more often and play the favorite music, it was basically a repertoire of the Venom band.

However, after a while it seemed to them a little, and there were thoughts of creating a small, but own group. For a whole year they tried to find like-minded people and came up with a name. In 1983, and three musicians played music. Rayle had to entrust more and vocals. And the name was chosen - Tormentor, and under this name the band released two demos - the first in 1983 (Blitzkrieg), and the second in 1984 (End Of The World). "The end of the world" was interested in the studio recording Noisse from West Berlin, and so in 1985 the contract was concluded.

First album

The problem was formed only: the name of the group, which was invented for a whole year, was rejected because several groups with this name had already performed around the country, and one even successfully. It recalled the name of the ancient German demon - Kreator, and since then, more than two decades of his, if I may say so, the face adorns all the numerous albums. And the first one was called "Endless pain" and it was written down literally within ten days.

Five songs were sung by Millet Petrotz, whose growth, like a vocalist, increased literally in front of his eyes, while the other five sang a drummer. The album instantly became popular and is still widely known as one of the first purely thrash ones, and the composition of his number Flag of Hate was the band's first hit. Literally a couple of months the new West German band performed on television, became famous and acquired their fans, many of whom are still fans.

First Glory

The year 1986 led the way to glory with the creation of the second album under the beautiful title "Pleasure to kill." Here Millet Petrozza, whose personal life was completely tied up with music, set a real milestone in the history of the thrash metal genre. Lucky the album and the producer. It was a long time ago famous Harris Jones, which brought to fame such bands as Tankard, Deathrow, Sodom, Voivod, Helloween and many others.

The album showed that the professional level of musicians has become much higher. Especially in technical terms. The real idol of the audience was Petrozza Mille, since no one has ever demonstrated such a really heavy and fast music - the pace just went off scale, affecting in the most serious way all future death metal bands. And the Kreator band itself was recognized as the most promising among the European style metal.

Tour

Before the audience, the musicians performed live only five times, one or two of them could be counted as full-fledged performances, and after the release of Pleasure to Kill, the band first went on tour in Germany, then - in England. For this, the musicians needed to at least slightly increase the composition. A little played with them, Michael Wolf ("Sodom"), then guitarist Jörg Třebjatowski.

In 1987 Kreator creates a new album - "Nightmare Fact", one of the songs of which became another hit - Behind The Mirror. At the same time, the first clip was shot (Toxic Trace composition), and work began with MTV. Sales of albums with this step increased many times. Tours began in the USA and Canada. For a group of such a profile, it was a victory - the second album was sold in one hundred thousand copies. Reviews of the world music press were also excellent. Especially great was the popularity in the FRG and England - the name of Petrozza Mille already sounded loud among thrash metal fans.

World glory

It should be said that, despite the very evocative musical style, young musicians from the very beginning in backstage life behaved extremely wisely and far-sighted. No one in the public can still state for sure that Millet Petrozza married or divorced, that he is a lover of blondes or brunettes. Personal life was hidden deeply and firmly. And in 1989 released the third album - "Extreme aggression", which the band recorded at a studio in Los Angeles with the producer widely known - Randy Burns.

This was a turning point, raising this team to the top of world fame. The clip shot on the ruins of the Acropolis in Greece (composition Betrayer) is known even to people who listen only to Vivaldi, because for a very long time and for the public, it sounded on MTV. Let and heard some reproaches that "Creator" played here is too clean, the reputation of the group stood on the top of Olympus unshakable. Nevertheless, after the next European tour of the group left Tric, in his place stood a musician from "Sodom" Frank Gojik (Blackfire). And the next tour of the United States began.

Fidelity to style or experiments

In 1990, the album "Coma Soul" was released, and it became clear that with the new guitarist Millet Petrozza he did not miss: his solos were harmonious and had excellent technique, although organically, though in contrast, they fit into the common musical fabric of the joint compositions. Solo himself, Millet continued to be to the highest degree brutal, and in general, "Creator" remained absolutely faithful to the style and still led thrash metal forward.

The beginning of the nineties is the time of changes in the world, as if the world itself is bored. I wanted to change everything! Even in metal (and in thrash, among others), experiments with sound began. In 1992, "Creator" released the sixth album under the name, which no one expected - "Renewal". In the compositions, keyboards and pure vocal were used for the first time. Millet Petrozza changed the style of singing! In addition, accompanied by clearly heard elements from the neighboring style - industrial. Many fans spat and predicted that the next album of "Creator" would be created in the footsteps of Vivaldi.

And yet

There was a lot of truth here: all the solos of Millet were transformed, they ceased to be chaotic, melodies flashed in them every now and then! However, critics spite, this album is still considered the best among the created by the group, and besides - the circle of admirers of Millet Petrozza has considerably expanded. Listens Renewal literally in one breath, and even pauses between the tracks are missing. All this is not just conceptually done, it was clearly a huge force of inspiration.

The main composition was made a clip in one of the deserts of Israel, and a large instrumental fragment demonstrating the borrowing of industrial (Realitatskontrolle), in all resembled Orwell "1984". In addition, the composition of Karmic Wheel captures the moment of suicide on the air of a politician from the US Robert Dwyer. In short, the album turned out to be extremely interesting, absolutely different from the previous ones, but the style of thrash metal remained unshakable, except that it received some variety.

World Tour

After the release, a world tour followed, including to Russia, where they had to prove that they had nothing to do with Nazism (just the patron of their concert was the well-known Sergei Troitsky - "Spider", known as an adherent of this philosophical direction, absolutely unacceptable in our country). Here it is necessary to clarify that the musical direction is in no way connected with the reality in which the members of the "Creator" group live. Frankly advocating violence style is somehow combined with the fact that in the strictest form a vegan observing the commandment "not to kill" is just Millet Petrotz.

And Tilo Wolff, his longtime bosom friend from the Lakrimoza group, is for some reason a sincere believer who constantly visits the temple. Recall that the Goths are Satanism and vampires. Somehow all this is combined. By the way, Tilo is also a man, absolutely closed to the public. Some believe that for him the group created by Milla Petrozza is a family. Others are sure that for several years Tilo Wolf and his wife, whom no one has seen, are secretly raising a joint daughter somewhere in the mountains of Switzerland. Which gossip is closer to the truth - God knows. However, the joint musical project with them was excellent, but about this below.

Parting

Let's return to the tour. Here the group "Creator" was expecting the loss of a symbolic, almost irreplaceable. The team had to leave the bass player, the founder of the group Rob Fioretti. He wanted more time to give to the family. Within two years, two bassists have changed, the second - Christian Guissler - has approached, still together. Almost simultaneously - in the same year - the drummer, who also stood at the origins of the band's creation, left the band - Jürgen Reil.

Millet was left one of the young trio who had once met in Essen, having just graduated from school. And this parting was not the last. In 1994 Noise label ceased long-term cooperation with the band, as it switched to GUN Records. And it's not at all strange that the next album by Millet Petrotz called "The Cause of Conflict" (1995). He was gorgeous. Two compositions were accompanied by clips. Millet tried to return to the old style, but he did not find a straight road. This album was again filled with experiments, and the style was close to the genre of techno. The new drummer was excellent, all the musicians shone with the technique of the game. But the changes in the composition lasted a very long time.

"Outcast" and others

In 1997, the experiments continued. The new album Outcast ("Outcast") showed the application of not only keyboards, but also electronics, music became less heavy and more orderly. But, strangely enough, it added a grim character. It was still thrash, but already "atmospheric". A year later, Millet began to take vocal lessons from the famous singer in the genre of rock Gudrun Laos. Followed by new albums, festivals, tours with huge audiences. Music was written much more slowly and carefully.

Millet Petrozza again and again solved organizational problems, including with sound recording. The band had to leave GUN Records in 1999 and go to the Drakkar records label. The album "Inner Spirit" was released in a new format. From thrash, the group retired almost completely. Amazing melodies, lightness were created with the help of new - "clean" - vocals by Millet, as well as keyboards and electronics. The fans split in opinions and found themselves at different poles. Some considered this album to be the best, others - a failure. A "to blame" was in this Tilo Wolf, who performed the title song with Millet. Gothic metal left an indelible imprint on the sound of the whole album, which became extremely popular.

Glory is unshakable

The two thousandth years did not stop the "staff turnover" in the group, but the "curve" experiment road still returned "Creator" to its former, classical trash sound. This marked the album "Violent Revolution". And in 2004 the unheard of happened: Millet Petrozza took part in a children's TV show, dedicated to rock music.

Touched by this meeting, Millet shared his impressions in numerous interviews for a long time. In 2005, the theme of the compositions of the new album "The Enemy of God" was international terrorism, and the cause of the bloodshed was the religion of Millet. Compatible incompatible: the group choice of style that promised the public trash (robbery, violence), came up with anti-war themes.

Not yet evening!

Records of new albums alternated with "long-playing" tours around the globe - even Africa, for the most part, "Creator" traveled. In 2009, the twelfth album "Hordes of Chaos" was released. In 2012, "Phantom Antichrist" (Phantom Antichrist), with an abundance of virtuoso solo parts. In 2017, the fourteenth album "Gods of Violence" was released.

That's all while Millet Petrotz has a personal life. Or rather, that's all we know about it.
