7 parts of the body that should not be touched by hands

Think of your body as a temple: you can use it, but there are some sacred places that can not be touched.

Studies show that hands play an important role in the transmission of microbes. Even after you thoroughly wash them, they very quickly get polluted again from the environment.

This is especially true for those who like a long manicure or wear ornaments. A study conducted at the University of Nebraska shows that people who wear rings or have nails longer than two millimeters usually have more microbes on their hands. The author of the study, MD Mark E. Rapp, says that the easier it is for you to wash your hands, the better for you. And the next step is to keep your hands away from some parts of the body. Which ones?

1. Ear canals

You should never poke your fingers or anything in your ears. Pushing something into your ears, you can very easily damage the thin skin of the ear canal. If there is a sensation of itching in your ears, make an appointment with an otolaryngologist. Do not try to solve the problem yourself. The otolaryngologist will be able to diagnose the problem, whether it be earwax accumulation, eczema or ear infection. You will be recommended an individual program of treatment, ear hygiene and advise means for moisturizing the skin.

2. The person

Of course, you need to touch the person to wash it or do some kind of care. But in all other cases, keep your hands away. When you touch your hands to different surfaces, and then bring them to your face, this increases the likelihood of various diseases and infections. In addition, your fingers contain oils that can clog pores, as the doctor of medical sciences, a consultant of the department of dermatology, tells.

3. Buttocks

You do not need to touch without a reason and to this part of your body, unless you take a shower or wipe yourself. The doctor of medical sciences, director of the Harvolf Medical Center Gerarj U. Klein says that the anus can contain bacteria that are potentially very harmful. Therefore, wash your hands thoroughly, if for some reason you still touched your buttocks.

4. Eyes

Except when you put contact lenses or wash out anything that comes into your eyes, keep your hands away from them. After all, you can very easily bring into the face various microbes that lead to conjunctivitis or infections. This was told by Kimberly Cokerham, MD, and counselor of the Ophthalmology Center. Therefore, follow the simple rule: do not touch or rub them.

If you experience dryness, itching or discomfort from wearing contact lenses, talk with your ophthalmologist. It will help to identify the main problems.

5. Mouth

Recent studies in the UK found that on average, a person touches the mouth or the skin around him 23.6 times per hour, when he is bored and has nothing to do. People do this, even when they are busy, but already 6.3 times per hour. The study published in the journal of applied microbiology states that three quarters of all microbes that enter the human body are transmitted from the hands that the person touches to the mouth. Perhaps it's time to think about stealing your child's pacifier?

6. The inside of the nose

In 2006, a study of the ear, throat and nose of patients was conducted, which was later published in the journal "Infection Control and Epidemiology". It turned out that people who often touch the nose, 51% more likely to bring into their bodies of Staphylococcus aureus than those who hold their hands under control.

7. Skin under the nails

There can live many unpleasant bacteria, including staphylococcus aureus. According to David Becker, a consultant dermatologist at the British Dermatological Center, to reduce the chances of transferring different bacteria, the nails should be short. In addition, to remove dirt, you should use a soft brush. Use of sharp objects is fraught with the fact that you can injure the nail bed. This will open the way to any bacteria or fungi that will create additional problems. Sometimes the result may be the appearance of onycholysis. This disease, in which the nail plate lags behind the bed.
