Mackerel is one of the most affordable and relatively inexpensive fish. It is good that it can be served not only for a family dinner, but also for a festive table. This fish is perfectly combined with fresh vegetable salads and boiled potatoes. It is served in a baked, fried or smoked form. But the most delicious is mackerel, marinated with onions. Option with carrots

This recipe produces a very fragrant home snack. It will be a pleasant addition to a family dinner. It is prepared from simple budgetary ingredients, the main part of which is always in the reserves of each hostess. Since the mackerel marinated in a can of onions, the recipe of which can be seen later, is done long enough, make sure beforehand that you have everything you need at hand. In this situation, you will need:

  • Large mackerel.
  • On a tablespoon of table salt and sugar.
  • One carrot and a bulb.
  • A teaspoon of dill seeds.
  • 500 milliliters of water.
  • 5 tablespoons 9% vinegar.
  • 8 peas of black pepper.
  • 4 carnations.
  • A pair of laurel leaves.

Thanks to the last two ingredients, homemade mackerel, marinated with onion and vinegar, acquires a unique taste and aroma. For those who do not like cloves, you can recommend to reduce its number or even refuse to use this spice. As for the laurushka, then instead of whole leaves you can take three pinches of ground seasoning.

Process description

First of all, you should start preparing marinade. To do this, salt, sugar and spices are added to the saucepan filled with the required amount of water. There are sent half-rings of onions and carrot circles. After that, the future marinade is brought to a boil and boiled for three minutes over medium heat. Then it is removed from the plate and the vinegar is added. All mix well and cool down a little.

Since mackerel, marinated with onions and vinegar, will be packed in cans, you need to prepare them in advance. Glass containers are thoroughly washed in running water and wiped with paper napkins. Immediately after this, they place a cleaned and chopped fish in them, alternating it with pieces of vegetables. All this is poured in a warm marinade and covered with a lid. Then a container with a future snack is placed on the shelf of the refrigerator.

  • 3 mackerels.

  • A couple of tablespoons of sunflower oil.
  • Bay leaf.
  • 3 tablespoons 9% vinegar.
  • Four peas of sweet pepper.

To make a delicious and aromatic pickled mackerel (a recipe at home is considered in today's article), it is not necessary to pre-unfreeze the fish. It is simply washed, released from the fins, lightly wiped with paper napkins and cut into pieces, the thickness of which is about two centimeters.

Prepared by this method, the fish are laid out in a three-dimensional vessel. There, too, put a laurel leaf, chopped onions and garlic slices with thin semicircles. All this is sprinkled with salt, sugar and two kinds of pepper. Then the fish are watered with vinegar and vegetable oil. All mix well and put into jars. The glass containers are covered with capron lids and sent to the refrigerator. A day later, a spicy and very fragrant mackerel marinated in a can of onions, the recipe of which is so simple that even an inexperienced culinary expert can easily cope with it, is completely ready to serve. Most often it is eaten with boiled potatoes and fresh vegetables.
