Lunmontov's Junker poems and their brief analysis

Lermontov's works written in the years he spent at the Junker school are hardly familiar to a wide circle of readers. Details of his life and creativity of this period are not accepted to be discussed or even remembered, so as not to obscure the bright memory of the genius of Russian literature. Meanwhile, it was then that the famous Junker poems by Lermontov were written! "Gospital", "Peterhof holiday" and "Ulanshu" samples of high style can not be called even with a stretch, but they can not be thrown out of the legacy of the poet's work - in his destiny these cadet "pranks" affected many years later.

Throwing youth

Studying at St. Petersburg University, moving to Moscow University, then returning to St. Petersburg - the thoughtless actions of a carefree youth. The throwing between the educational institutions of the two capitals ended for Lermontov by the school of guard ensigns and cavalry junkers, where he was forced to enter in 1832. The confluence of circumstances, the convictions of St. Petersburg relatives - and now M. Yu. Lermontov in the cadet school. The romantic period of life was left behind.

The educational program of the cadets was quite intense, plus the soldier's drill acted on the freedom-loving young men from the wealthy families not in the best way - and all young people spent their free time studying in childish revelry and binges. Nowadays, this kind of pampering would be called a stress relief, in those years the young psyche was spared less than ours, and the Junkers' being was called nothing but debauchery.

Years of lost opportunities

The young man, who wrote his first brilliant poem "Angel" in 17 years, had to forget, for the time being about romantic images, to become like everyone else. Lermontov, despite his seeming weakness, was incredibly strong in his hands - he bent the metal ramrod, tying it into a knot, joking. This power, the ability to easily compose satirical epigrams, the artist's talent helped Lermontov to be heard among the disconsolate cadets for his. But at the same time, the brethren on the barracks did not need his romantic nonsense - comrades demanded a different poetry: vulgar, rude, not shrouded in shame. They needed Junker poems. Lermontov Encyclopedia Was replenished in those years with just such poetry. The mentioned "Ulance", "Peterhof holiday", "Hospital" - is nothing like a pornographic depiction of the real life of Junkers. Dear Pushkin Lermontov also wrote frank intimate poetry, but it is intimate, whereas in Lermontov they are vulgar. For two years at school, nothing outstanding poet has created - in his short life it was a ruthlessly lost time.

Holy Out of Mockery

Despite the fact that the Junkers are far from decent behavior, certain moments in Lermontov's biography indicate that the nobility of these young people was bleeding. The grandmother of the poet, EA Arsen'eva, who adored her Michel, could not leave him alone. Having hired a flat near the school, she placed in her a servant whose duties included every morning waking her nervous and morbid gentleman a few minutes before the school's rise, so that an unbearable drumbeat would not badly affect his psyche, and feed all sorts of food. The comrades who valued the shameless Junker poems of Lermontov knew about the grandmother's affection for the poet, but this tenderness was never the object of their ridicule. Unbelievable, but the relationship between grandson and grandmother, the young Junkers perceived almost as a shrine. Contemporaries of the poet, all as one, note that over Lermontov's parents they still allowed themselves to make fun of, above the grandmother - never.

Contradictions in the assessments of contemporaries

The natives of the Junker school, who by and large went down in history due to the fact that they studied together with Lermontov, subsequently give radically different estimates of the poet's relationship with schoolmates, differently characterize him as a person. And this is also a trace of what Lermontov wrote in those years. He openly laughed at everyone, the names of some are forever tied with his poems and poems of the Junker years. Among them, Tizengauzen, to whom the address of one famous poem is dedicated, Shakhovsky, Polivanov, Prince Baryatinsky ... The last one is devoted to the whole poem! Could he have forgiven Lermontov "Gospital", in which the hereditary prince in the Junker school was recognized on the following lines: "And our prince, scrambled by wine steam, climbed upward; Pressed the latch - enters with a heat, hands for his ... holding on. " Further narrative about the adventures of the prince is even less pleasant. According to the plot Baryatinsky, dreaming of an intimate encounter with a young maid, confused her with an old lady in the darkness and attacked him with all the passion of his youthful impatience. Hardly such a glory, which the Junker poems of Lermontov provided to the prince, could give birth in his soul tender memories of joint study.

Fateful acquaintance in the Junker school

Somewhere in the beginning of 1834 (Lermontov's classmates say that it was in the winter), at school decided to publish a hand-written journal "School Dawn". He went out on Wednesdays. All week long everyone could write what he wanted, and put his manuscripts in the designated box of one of the tables in the dormitory. In the evening on Wednesday, these manuscripts were sewn together and immediately read out loud. The most popular author of the "School dawn" was, of course, Lermontov. Junker poems by Mikhail Yurievich could not be published in these journals, but from the pages of the school weekly they were well known to all the cadets who had studied together with Lermontov. Another permanent author of the journal was none other than Nikolai Martynov, the damned murderer of the great poet.

In his Confession, which Martynov wrote after the fatal shot, he tries to explain why he summoned Lermontov to a duel in Pyatigorsk, why he did not miss. The insults he endured from the cadet school left their mark here - Martynov could not forget the old ridicule over himself from the poet's side.

Junkers' being without censorship

Perhaps, Martynov had reason to take offense at Lermontov, but much more of these reasons were among those who are mentioned by name in the poet's works. Their surnames are given above, but some facts from the ordinary life of the cadets, conveyed in the poem "Ode to the Needy," speak of an even more unattractive behavior of descendants from noble families. If in a short work K Tiesenhausen, Lermontov wrote inoffensive: "Do not drive so languidly with an eye, round ... do not twist, voluptuousness and vice, do not joke ...", then in "Ode to the Needy" the poet frankly informs readers about the widespread homosexual tendencies among young men . What Junker poems by Lermontov or the poems of those years do without a regular portion of discrediting revelations? Unless his "Junkers Prayers" - they entered the thin collection of works of Lermontov, officially recognized by the writers, written by him in those two years (from 1832 to 1834), that the poet spent in school. His frivolous poems were never published for understandable reasons.

Glory to the glory of strife

If in the hearts of some classmates the personal insult ripened and grew, frank stories in the light of those whose names were not reflected in the poet's works, played for him generally a bad fame and gave rise to prejudices in the hearts of people completely outsiders to the poet. The noble fathers of the families were vigilant to ensure that at balls and social receptions neither to their daughters nor to their wives the vicious poet did not come close - the glory of the author of vulgar poems to the author of the "Hero of Our Time" damaged fairly well. But even the appearance on the pages of the capital's magazines Pechorin not immediately erased the negative impression in the minds of Russians, which sowed in them Junker poems by Lermontov. The poem "The Death of a Poet" written for Pushkin's death somewhat changed the general impression, but the final turn towards the true recognition of Mikhail Yurievich's creativity was accomplished only after the release of "The Hero of Our Time." Many years passed, many events occurred before the light "forgot" the boyish stupidity of Lermontov.

Not only about everyday life

Lermontoveds claim that the wonderful poem "Hadji Abrek", as well as one of the editions of the "Demon" were written just in the years of study at the Junker school. The poet's comrades told us that quite often after the lights out Lermontov went to distant classes and there he wrote for a long time in complete silence and loneliness. One gets the impression that there were two different Lermontovs in the school: in the daytime it was a regular cadet, not unlike other similar bullies and skeptics (hence his frivolous poems), and at night he turned into himself - thin, vulnerable, full of romanticism and Heart feelings. It is believed that the "Izmail Bay", begun in Moscow, was completed just in the years of study at the Junker school. At the same time, work began on the novel "Vadim", which was never finalized. It is gratifying that the Junker poems and Lermontov's poems have faded after years on the background of works devoted to the Caucasus they love, distant wanderings and wandering, other worthy topics.

Revenge, carried through the years

Only two years of schooling lasted, but until the very death of the poet those frank poetry works followed him on the heels. As already noted, the Junker poems by Lermontov Reflected the shameful life of quite real people. And two people from those who studied with the poet in school, played a fateful role in his life. This Martynov (special explanation here is not necessary) and Baryatinsky (his hatred for Lermontov over the years only grew). The favorite Caucasus poet contributed to this.

Lermontov often visited Pyatigorsk, where he was still brought by his grandmother. What was Baryatinsky, who a few years after his graduation from school, became a field marshal, governor of the Caucasus and an approximate emperor himself, understand that behind his back the subordinates whisper about his indecent behavior forever prescribed in the infamous "Hospital"? And then again Lermontov loomed before his eyes. Of course, Baryatinsky, by the power of his power, could harm the official promotion of the poet. Such were the fatal consequences of the Junker pranks.

All the best in the last three years

The construction of Lermontov's early poems, written in the first years of conscious creativity, differs in both style and size. They are struck by an almost complete lack of form and an abundance of pompous epithets. From time to time in some poems you can see glimpses of future genius, but literary critics believe that all the best that was created by Lermontov, he was written from 1838 to 1841 - the last in his life. Several stand apart created in 1831, "Angel" and in 1837 "The Death of the Poet."

In the last three years there appeared "Mtsyri", the last (eighth) edition of "Demon", "Hero of Our Time". Talent Lermontov developed rapidly. How much would he write in the future, if it were not for a shot of a friend in the cadet school?
