A summary of the chapters: "Farewell to the Mother" by VG Rasputin

In this article, we turn to the work of an outstanding writer of the twentieth century - Valentin Grigoryevich Rasputin. To be more precise, we will analyze the author's program narrative and its brief content by chapters. "Farewell to Mother", as you will see, is a work with a deep moral and philosophical meaning.

About the book

The story was published in 1976. In the center of the plot is village life. But Rasputin described not only an idyllic picture and the charms of Russian nature, he touched on much sharper topics. The reader is presented with a picture of the death of the village. Along with the disappearance of the place where many generations lived, the memory of ancestors, the connection with the roots, also disappears. Rasputin depicts the gradual degradation of man, the desire for a new at the expense of the old. According to the author, the destruction of morality and nature for the sake of industrialization will inevitably lead humanity to destruction. It is this idea that illustrates the story "Farewell to the Mother".

A summary of the chapters: "Farewell to Matera"

Matera is the name of the village and the island on which it is located. But it did not take long to live in the settlement - it should soon be flooded. Spring. Many families divorced, others did not plant vegetable gardens and sow fields. And they started the houses: they do not whitewash, they do not clean up, they take things away from them.

Only old people live the same life, as if they are not going anywhere. In the evenings they get together and talk for a long time. The village has survived a lot, there have been good and bad times. However, people invariably were born and died, life did not stop for a minute. But now in the autumn they will complete the dam for the power station, the water will rise and flood Materu.

Chapters 2-3

The story "Farewell to the Mother" (a summary of the chapters in particular) tells about the evenings for tea that were conducted by the village old women. They met at the oldest - Daria. She came here, and Sima, who lived in Matera only ten years ago. They called her Moskovishnaya for telling me about how she saw Moscow. Her fate was hard. In addition, she was born a dumb girl. A lot of attention to the older generation is given by Valentin Rasputin. "Farewell to the Mother" (a brief summary of the chapters makes it possible to be sure of this) abounds with such characters. One of them is Bogodul. No one remembered how the old man appeared in the village. At one time he was a change, he periodically brought goods to Matera, and then stayed here permanently. Bogodul looked like a deep old man, but he did not change over the years.

He is not going to leave the village - they do not have the right to drown the living. However, he is concerned about how he will justify himself before his ancestors for the destruction of Matera. Bogodul believes that he is appointed to look after the village, and if it is flooded - the wine is on it.

Paul comes, the son of Darya. He talks about the village where the village people move. It turns out that this place is completely unsuitable for peasant life.
