Impressive Audi S3

The developers of the new Audi S3 did not hesitate to put a strong turbo engine under the hood of the baby. To date, this model is the most powerful version of the hatchback A3. Initially, the manufacturers adjusted the model in a three-door version, and a little later the five-door S3 Sportback was released.

Audi S3 - a car that fully corresponds to the canons of the S-family. He will perfectly cope with the duties of a civilian vehicle, and will not fall into the mud if he is to be tested as a sports car. With the latter role it helps to cope with a 2-liter FSI engine with a turbocharger. The power of this engine is 265 horsepower. Really very much for such a small car. Despite the fact that it is very powerful, Audi S3 is extremely well suited for driving around the city. And the most interesting is that for all that, it can be economical. The motor under the hood is installed longitudinally, which made it possible to equip it with an all-wheel drive system with an electrohydraulic clutch. A similar scheme is used by other cars: Audi A3 and VW Golf 4Motion. From the point of view of the efficiency of such an all-wheel drive, this scheme is worse, since the main part of the torque is delivered to the front wheels, but only 5 to 10 percent - to the rear axle.

The ground clearance of the Audi 3 is smaller, the brakes are more efficient, and the suspension is stiffer. Not bad worked the manufacturers and over the steering, which became even more accurate, allowing to match the image of a sports car.

Sportiness is emphasized by various accessories, such as a truncated steering wheel, on which there is a nameplate S3, a new instrument panel, metal pedals. The basic equipment includes the seats of the company Recardo, similar to those that stood in the interior of the model S4. If necessary, you can order very comfortable anatomical chairs, exactly the same as in RS4.

The fate of Audi S3 in our country is still under big question. There is some probability that in Russia it will not be sold. It all boils down to the fact that the cost of such a small car is too big, incommensurable with the capabilities of consumers in this class. As an official model it is represented, most likely, will not.

But in the European market it can be seen for sure. There it is offered with three different four-cylinder engines. These are 1,4- and 1,8-liter units, developing respectively 140 and 180 "horses." And a two-liter diesel with 150 horsepower. In the presence of a six-speed manual gearbox and box automatic with two clutches. What about the charged sports variant, then, as we said, it has 2 working liters and is capable of running to all 300 "horses".
