How to cure an allergic cough?

Drug treatment has always been at the forefront in the treatment of allergic conditions, such as, for example, an allergic cough. To date, a number of tools have been developed, and although none of them can heal allergies and completely eliminate the same allergic cough, yet their use greatly alleviates suffering. In addition, today we have the means to muffle the chronic inflammatory processes caused by disorders of the immune system, and thereby prevent the painful symptoms that arise as a response to irritations.

Antiallergic treatment is prolonged, lasting for weeks, months, and sometimes all life. This, however, does not mean that it remains unchanged. The decision is made by the doctor, and they should be re-evaluated every six months, especially when the symptoms change. Any change in symptoms requires a call to an allergist.

The treatment is mainly directed to the diseased organ. So, bronchial asthma is treated with inhalations, hay runny nose - by dropping drops into the nose, eczema - by ointments, by an allergic cough - by means suppressing cough. Tablets, suppositories or injections as long-term treatment are of secondary importance.

Medications in childhood are dosed on the basis of the weight of the child, and the dose is set by the allergist doctor strictly individually to each child.

It is extremely important that parents (and schoolchildren) know the names and doses of drugs used for long-term treatment and for emergency therapy. Unfortunately, both parents and children know better the types of beer, carbonated drinks and juices than the drugs used.

At the primary visit to the doctor, you should take with you all the packages of previously used medications or write out their names on the leaflet. Only in this case, the allergist doctor can evaluate the effectiveness of previously used drugs and prescribe the optimal treatment for the child.

Recommendations of an allergist doctor should be obtained in writing, which will eliminate the possibility of errors and will serve as a guide for the further correct treatment of the child.

Every medicine is a double-edged sword. Each of them, including antihistamines and antiallergic, has side effects. The latter, however, largely depend on the dose and occur mainly in overdose and too long-term use. To warn the same overdose it is possible only using medicines strictly on indications and individualizing their reception.

The following are information about the main groups of substances used to eliminate allergic cough in children.

Antitussive drugs

These funds are divided into two groups:

1) expectorant (secretolitics) - thinning phlegm;

2) funds that suppress cough.

Both groups of drugs are not used as medicines for long-term therapy of allergic diseases. Secretolytics can be used for various infections of the respiratory tract, accompanied by the formation of viscous sputum. Means suppressing an allergic cough, it is necessary to use as an exception, strictly under indications.

In addition, when a child experiences an allergic cough, treatment also includes antihistamines.

Histamine is contained in small amounts in the body of every person, but it is released in large amounts when exposed to an allergen, causing typical allergic symptoms: redness, swelling, itching, allergic cough.

Medications that affect histamine are called antihistamines. They act by eliminating adverse effects, and applied with a preventive purpose, do not allow the development of an allergic reaction, such as, for example, an allergic cough.
