How is planting cuttings of grapes in autumn?

Viticulture is not the most common way of leisure for our gardeners. But in recent years, everything has changed. The climate becomes warmer, it becomes possible to grow fine crops even in the Urals. Why not take advantage of such attractive favors of nature?

Why the cuttings?

The most common in our conditions is the planting of grape cuttings in autumn. Why did not we get other methods? Let's look at this in more detail.

The fact is that from the cuttings the normal seedlings are more often obtained. In addition, the practical undertakings of our wine growers have shown that the bush planted in the form of a cut begins to bear fruit much earlier. There is information that a decent crop can be obtained as early as the second year.

So planting grape cuttings in autumn is our choice!

Preparation

First, you need to allocate a separate plot for the vineyard. As such, you can designate any bed, which is located away from trees and is located on a sunny spot. Pay attention to the groundwater: if they are located less than two meters below the surface of the soil, then such a site is completely unsuitable. The rows need to be oriented from north to south.

So, how is planting cuttings of grapes in autumn?

Let's get started!

The time for disembarkation should be selected before stable frosts.

The easiest method is to land in the pit. To do this, dig a hole depth and width of 80 cm. Digging it, you need to sort the soil into three groups: a layer of superficial fertile, middle and lower plots. All three types of land are added separately.

The first batch (fertile) is mixed with three buckets of humus and 500 g of mineral fertilizers, additionally adding a couple of kilograms of wood ash. Thoroughly mix this earth until it turns into a homogeneous mass.

Landing

Note that the upper edge of the mixture filled in the hole should be located half a meter from its edge. After alignment, the planting peg is driven into the groove and the grapes are planted with cuttings into the ground. The root system needs to be spread as carefully as possible by manually pouring it over the soil mixture. The well is spilled with a couple of buckets of water.

The second layer of soil is mixed with fine gravel or sand, and then the resulting groove is added to the resulting mixture.

In principle, the story on this could be completed, but planting grape cuttings in autumn has some features.

In particular, you need not forget to spend hilling. On the seedling in this case, 20-30 cm of land falls in, and for this purpose it is optimal to use the soil from the third heap. In this case, it must be remembered that on top of the cuttings (about 2-3 cm) there must be fertile soil.

If you do everything right, then planting the grapes in autumn cuttings will be rewarded with the rapidly growing and fruitful vegetation. In addition, such plants adapt better to cold climates and practically do not freeze out in the following years.

These bushes also last longer and better fructify, providing enough raw material for all home preparations.
