Pushkin Mountains, Svyatogorsky Monastery. History, schedule of services and photos

The Svyatogorsky Uspensky Monastery in Pushkin Hills is one of the most important places for Russian history, architecture, religion and secular culture. Each epoch brought here significant changes. For several centuries efforts were made to preserve it in its original form. Churches built on places of miraculous phenomena, mighty fortress walls, nature - all this attracts believers and tourists here.

History

In the modern village called Pushkinsky Mountains Svyatogorsky Monastery was founded in the 16th century on the site of the miracles that took place. Having learned about the appearance of the miracle-working icon of the Mother of God and healings to the young shepherd, Ivan the Terrible ordered to build a church on the Sinichesky mountain. At this place the temple of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos was built, its throne is located just above the stump from the pine where the icon appeared. At the monastery, the settlement of Tobolenets was founded, eventually expanded and renamed the village of Holy Mountains. It is known that Ivan the Terrible granted the Svyatogorsky Monastery a fifteen-pound bell made at the Tyulenev plant. And Tsar Feodor Mikhailovich donated the Gospel. The huge bell was nicknamed by the people "Goryunom" for a plaintive voice. Until now, only a piece of it has been preserved, which is in the courtyard. Until the 18th century the monastery was first-class and had many lands. During the reign of Catherine he became third-class and was deprived of most of the possessions, but did not lose value for Russia.

Temple and Pushkin

Near the monastery is the family estate of AS. Pushkin - the village of Mikhailovskoye. It was built by the poet's grandfather on the maternal line - Osip Abramovich Hannibal.

Grandmother and grandfather of Pushkin (Maria Alekseevna Hannibal and Osip Abramovich Hannibal) made significant donations to the temple. This gave the family the right to be buried near the monastery. Pushkin visited these places after the end of the Lyceum. Especially close connection with the monastery he had appeared at the time of exile for atheism. Then the abbot of the monastery hegumen Iona was appointed for spiritual observation of Pushkin. As a result, they developed a close trusting relationship. Pushkin also made friends with the whole monastic brotherhood.

Hegumen Jonah spoke positively about the observed. The poet also assembled images of characters, sayings, sayings, which include folk wisdom. They became the material for the famous and significant works "Boris Godunov", "The Story of Belkin". And, in the end, the great poet found rest in the monastery. Here he is buried, his mother, grandmother, grandfather and brother who died in infancy. According to legend, Pushkin, when he buried his mother, paid for his grave, as if he had a premonition of his imminent death.

So, in the 19th century the village of Svyatiye Gory was renamed the Pushkin Mountains. Svyatogorsky monastery, in contrast to it, retained its name. And nowadays you can come and visit the grave of the great poet, leave flowers. And the servants of the church commemorate Pushkin and his relatives in molebens every day.

Temple in the 20th century

Even before the war, when Soviet power came, the temple was closed. The room was used as a bakery, a printing house, a club. In the Patriotic War, the Svyatogorsky Monastery (Pushkin Mountains) suffered greatly in the bombing, the St. Nicholas Church and other structures were completely destroyed. The fascists sought to destroy both the religious monument and the grave of Pushkin. In their design, the explosion of these objects of cultural heritage was to undermine the spirit of the Russian soldier. Fortunately, our compatriots managed to go on the offensive and to clear the monument on the poet's grave. A memorial dedicated to the liberation of the Pushkin Mountains was built in memory of these events. In 1949, the Assumption Cathedral was restored by the Academy of Sciences, and then the museum exposition was opened. But it is not known, it would have been done, do not be here the graves of the poet.
And only in 1992 the temple was returned to the ROC and the Svyatogorsky monastery (Pushkin Mountains) was reborn, as much as possible repeating the appearance of the times of the life of the great poet.
