Potassium fertilizers in soil and their importance in plant development

Every gardener wants to have a good harvest in his garden, which can please tasty and healthy vegetables. However, unfortunately, in practice everything is far from being as easy as a person wants, since in the life of plants the overall balance of all nutrients plays an important role, among which the element such as potassium is particularly important. Since mineral elements are the most important link in their nutrition, they are introduced into the soil during the spring and autumn digging of the soil every year. Potassium fertilizers in this respect play a key role in the metabolism, and their deficiency can seriously affect the future crop.

It should be borne in mind that unlike phosphorus and nitrogen, potassium is not part of organic compounds in plants, but is present mostly in their cells, being in the form of salts of a soluble composition. For the most part, this microelement is contained in the tissues of young green plantations, and in old ones it is very small. Potash fertilizers can not be overemphasized, because their functions are extremely diverse. First of all, this element improves the metabolism, and also promotes good resistance of any plant to a lack of moisture in the soil. In addition, it slows down the oxidation process and prolongs the life of the plant, lengthening the period of its growth and fruiting.

It is also important to understand that all mineral macro- and microelements are closely related, since they have a positive effect directly in the biological ligament. That is why before applying mineral fertilizers to the site, it is necessary to perform a soil analysis in advance in order to determine its qualitative composition for the presence of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The last two elements closely interact with each other, as phosphorus plays a leading role in fruiting, as well as in the immune system. That is why phosphate-potassium fertilizers are the most important substances with annual fertilizing, which can provide a quality crop. Increasing the activity of enzymes involved in carbohydrate metabolism, they contribute to the accumulation of sugar in root crops (sugar beet) and starch in potatoes, so that their nutritional value becomes higher.

Potassium fertilizers also contribute to the frost resistance of plants during wintering, as the high content of sugar in cells increases the internal pressure in them. The lack of this element may be indicated by insufficient development of buds, weak flowering, as well as the appearance of diseases such as powdery mildew, rust. On fruit trees the lack of potassium is clearly visible on the leaves, the tips of which begin to burn and acquire a burned appearance.

Recently, among gardeners, it is increasingly possible to meet those who use the method of organic farming, increasing the fertility of the soil not with the help of various chemical fertilizers, but with the sowing of syderate crops. So, for example, all cereal plants, which include primarily wheat, rye and oats contain a large supply of potassium. Therefore, if the young plants after plaits smell into the ground, then next year you will get an excellent soil. Potassium fertilizer of such a plan is completely natural, and therefore is easily digestible for all other green organisms.

Thus, in the cultivation of any cultivated plants, potassium fertilizers play a crucial role, increasing their immune system and future yields. This must be taken into account when growing vegetables and fruits, regularly replenishing the lack of this element in the soil.
