Gogol-mogol is a drink that is not only famous for its unusual taste and aroma, but it is also a cure for many diseases. No wonder the kind-hearted medical doctor Aibolit from the book considered him a panacea for all diseases, he advised both children and animals. If suddenly a misfortune happened with a throat or just wanted to diversify your dessert table, then to prepare a gogol-mogul is a win-win option.

Unusual and contradictory origin of the drink

There are a myriad of myths, legends and variations on the origin of the drink. Among them, there are three most popular versions. According to one legend, the gogol-mogol was prepared at home for the first time by a servant of the synagogue named Gogel. The leader of the divine services from Mogilev once lost his voice and almost lost his job. A long search for a remedy capable of curing his throat led to the invention of a wonderful drink. The basis of it served as eggs and salt. He advised dipping a piece of bread into a "damp egg" and shaking a little of it a little.

Sweet gogol-mogul is an invention of the German Manfred Kökenbauer. The confectioner specialized in the production of canned sweets. During the next "sweet" experiment, "nectar" from egg mass and sugar was born.

According to the third version, the Polish Countess Bronislava Potocka invented the drink. She modernized Gogel's recipe by adding thick honey instead of bread. And the name of the drink gave a new one. Now it was a mogul. The recipe at home can be cooked very quickly and easily, so the drink quickly became insanely popular among sweeties as well as among those who wanted to restore the health of the hoarse throat.

In fact, historians argue, the gogol-mogul is food that appeared long before Kokkenbauer's confectionery experiments or the first symptoms of Gogel's throat disease. Mention of it is dated the third century AD. In the Talmud, the egg mixture with honey was considered not even a drink, but a full-fledged dish.

Gogol-Mogol: the classic recipe

The most popular recipe for cooking is the Polish version. Many culinary experts call it classics. The exact amount of ingredients in the recipe will not be, since each determines for himself the number of eggs and the required degree of sweetness of the drink.

Egg yolks should be mixed thoroughly with the right amount of sugar. As a result, a snow-white thick mass should turn out. Proteins are whipped separately and only at the last stage are added to the yolks. In the interval between mixing the main ingredients, you can add fruit juice or berries crushed to the state of gruel.

If you decide that this dish should combine taste and benefit, then we suggest preparing the next gogol-mogol. It will be a mixture consisting of one raw egg, two tablespoons of red dry wine, a pinch of salt and a pinch of nutmeg. In addition, 150 ml of milk will be present in this recipe.

Add wine, sugar and salt to the egg. Thoroughly mix everything. Then to the egg mass, add warm boiled milk and again beat well until the foam is obtained. Whipped yolks are introduced at the very last moment. But many housewives see the gogol-mogol for the cake with white, so just do not add the yolks to the resulting mass, leaving it snow-white.

For preparation it is required:

  • Two yolks;
  • A glass of hot milk;
  • Six tablespoons of liquid honey (or three tablespoons of thick);
  • Two tables. Spoons of citrus juice (lemon, mandarin, orange).

Milk is poured into a small container and put on fire. We add honey there and wait until it finally dissolves. Then add the two yolks, you can pre-mix them a little with a fork. When the mass warms up a bit, add the lemon juice.

Remove from heat and pour into volumetric dishes with high edges. Using a blender or a mixer, whisk the mass until a lush foam. Drinking such a useful "medicinal" gogol-mogol is recommended on an empty stomach with throat diseases (sore throat, cough, loss of voice, hoarseness, etc.)

Recipe for children

To make a drink from the "book doctor", you will need:

  • two eggs;
  • 200 grams of sugar;
  • 100 grams of cocoa;

To the yolks, add cocoa and butter. We carefully mix all the ingredients. Beaten the whipped whites into egg yellow mass. Pour the drink into a glass and decorate the top with a piece of chocolate or finely chopped pieces of walnut.

If you do not entice your baby's chocolaty, then try using the Mogol's Gogol recipe, where a fruit note is used as a "bait for a whim." To make a drink, you need two chicken eggs, a glass of milk, a pinch of nutmeg, honey or sugar, juice (peach, pineapple, apricot). Try to take sweet juices to make the drink the same.

In order for the gogol-mogul to be lush and airy, confectioners advise always to separate the proteins and yolks before whipping. Of course, this will take a little longer, but the result is worth the effort.

So, the whites were beaten, the yolks mixed with sugar or honey, and they also walked over them well with the whisk of the mixer. In the yolks, add the juice and a pinch of nutmeg in powder. Now you can mix the yellow and white masses. The resultant beverage is poured into a glass and decorated with nuts, berries or simply sprinkled through a beautiful stencil with cocoa powder.

If the gogol-mogul is prepared for the child not as a treat, but exclusively as an auxiliary medicine, then it is recommended to use it only in a warm form.

Coffee

There is not only a children's recipe for making a Gogol-Mogul. If you decide to please the grown-up members of the family with a tasty and useful treat, then we recommend making a coffee drink. To do this, take:

  • Chicken egg (if desired, you can use quail, but their number will increase to five pieces);
  • 250-280 ml of milk;
  • sugar;
  • Ground coffee - 40-70 grams (depending on the love of the fortress).

We are already doing standard manipulations with protein and yolk. We beat them separately, and sugar yolks are added to the yolks. Now alternately add a glass of milk, ground coffee, a lush protein component. The more coffee is added, so, accordingly, will be stronger and more saturated to taste gogol-mogol.
