Glasses for seedlings by hand: the most economical options

In April, you need to pick up the seedlings. How to make cups for seedlings in large quantities, quickly and with a minimum of effort? Which way is the most effective?

Glasses for seedlings by hand: billets in winter

The easiest way is to collect half-liter and one-liter packages of milk (kefir, curdled milk, yogurt, etc.). Thin laminated cardboard will allow seedling long enough (about two months) to develop well. When transporting to the cottage, the cups will not fall apart. On the windowsill you can put them tightly, the container under them does not need a large height (as opposed to paper), enough containers from frozen foods. Effort minimum: trim the upper part to the desired height, thoroughly wash with detergent, and dry. Before filling the ground, pierce several holes for draining with a stiletto or a hot nail (pierce through a wooden block).

Glasses for seedlings can be made by buying a package of plastic cups (sold in wholesale markets or in packing stores). Glasses 100 ml packed in 100 pieces. Cost a maximum of 100 rubles (you can buy and cheaper). Need to do in them holes to drain. If used cups are used, they should be washed. Otherwise, mold may appear.

Glasses from the newspaper for seedlings: the most economical option

A huge number of free newspapers are loaded into our mailboxes. Of these, it's easy to make cups. You just need an empty can and patience at first. The newspaper sheet should be folded in half, on the one hand tucked, then wrapped around the can.

The bottom should be formed by the fold of the sheet without a cant, compact by pressing. Remove the can.
Kant at the junction on one side must be deployed, then secure the second side.

Doing from the newspaper glasses for seedlings with your own hands, you need to remember the nuances:

  • The newspaper quickly gets wet, so watering should be moderate;
  • Containers in this case should be high enough (2/3 of the height of the cup) to keep the shape;
  • Glasses from the newspaper should be tried to put as tightly as possible, preferably under them to choose the best container in terms of size.

Seedlings in paper cups are very easy to take root: the roots are not damaged during transplantation, the newspaper itself for the summer is completely decomposed.

Cups from packing packages

Packing (from 700 to 1000 pieces) of packing packages with a size of 10 x 27 (maybe another size range) usually costs no more than 100 rubles. Installing packages filled with soil in a cardboard box and placing them in a plastic container for collecting moisture, suitable for size, you can get wonderful seeding glasses. In the lower part of the bags you need to pierce (you can use an awl or a thick needle), taking several pieces at once. The upper edge of the packs is better to tuck - so they are more stable.

Transplanting from these cups will require a skill: they need to be cut carefully. In such packages it is desirable to grow seedlings with a large root system - tomatoes, annual dahlias, it is possible to germinate corms - begonias, lilies, daylilies.

Thin cardboard and tight covers

Glasses for seedlings with their own hands can be made from an old paper, pieces of unused wallpaper, covers of glossy magazines. In this case, you will have to draw a drawing of the box, then fold the bottom, and fix one rib with adhesive tape, glue, or stapler. Then make holes to drain the moisture. The variant is convenient from the point of view of the choice of the optimum sizes (stacking on containers), and then and easy transportation. The roots of the plants break through in the ground after planting first in the bottom holes, then the cups become soaked and decomposed without disturbing the plant.
