Genital warts: symptoms and treatment

Most often the human papillomavirus spreads through direct contact. It is transmitted during sexual intercourse in the area of the anus and the genitals, mouth or throat. Genital warts in the mouth or in the throat are very rare. Condom use can significantly reduce the risk of infection with this virus. After infection with papillomavirus infection, the disease often spreads to the genitals and anus.

Often genital warts are transmitted from partners when a sick person does not even have visible signs of the disease. The first symptoms can appear already when this infection was "successfully" transferred to another sexual partner.

Experts argue that the probability of transmission of this virus from a sick pregnant woman to a newborn child is very small, although it still exists. Until now, it is not established at what time (during pregnancy or during childbirth) is transmitted papillomavirus infection from the mother to the child. It is not recommended for women who have genital warts to give birth by caesarean section. Only in the case of the presence of genital warts in the vagina, the doctor recommends doing a cesarean section.

Infection with papillomavirus is usually not accompanied by the manifestation of symptoms, and not all appear visible peaked condylomas. The visible symptoms of the disease appear, as a rule, after two to three months from the time of infection. In exceptional cases, they occur as early as week 4 of the disease. In other situations, the symptoms of infection may not appear for many years. By and large, everything happens purely individually, namely, depending on the state of immunity of a particular person.

Symptoms of this infection include: irritation, bleeding and itching. Pointed condylomas have a variety of sizes and shapes. They are very large or, conversely, microscopic. Some appear in groups, others appear separately. Condylomas by appearance often resemble the cauliflower head. Sometimes they are white and flat, so they are almost invisible. In men and women, condylomas appear in the groin area, around the genitals, in the rectum, near the urethra, on the anus.

Genital warts manifest in women on the genitals and in the vagina. Often they are detected by a gynecologist when examined.

In men, condylomata appear on the scrotum and genitalia. Sometimes only a doctor can detect genital warts. Often the symptoms of this disease are very reminiscent of the symptoms of very different illnesses. To establish the diagnosis, you must undergo a thorough examination with a specialist.

Treatment of genital warts is performed by several methods: surgical, in which they are removed mechanically; Therapeutic, in which drugs are taken that destroy these formations; Biological, based on limiting the activity of the virus.

Removal of genital warts is considered the most advanced method to date to get rid of the manifestations of this unpleasant disease. After such a procedure, there is almost no trace of warts.

No less popular and not too expensive is cryotherapy - removal of condylomas with liquid nitrogen. During this procedure, they are frozen with a special applicator for a few seconds. After some time themselves fall away. After 10 days, the trace from the condyloma disappears. This procedure is effective, painless, safe and generally available. After it, traces do not remain, unlike other surgical methods. Before the treatment it is necessary to consult with specialists.
