Nikolai Vasilyevich Sergeev, actor: biography, personal life, filmography

This talented actor on theatrical stage and in the cinema filigree turned into images, endowed with such qualities as inner concentration, diligence and wisdom. He played just an unimaginable number of bright roles in Soviet cinema.

It so happened that Nikolai Sergeyev became an acclaimed actor, already in his old age. Is there such a paradox? Let's consider this issue in more detail.

Biographical information

It should be noted that Sergeyev is an actor from a noble family. Initially, she lived in the Kursk province (Ozerki village), where the future lycee was born in 1894, and after a while his parents moved to Moscow. Upon arrival in a large and crowded city, Nikolai began to study at the gymnasium. It was within the walls of the above educational institution that he began to take part in plays and theatrical productions.

After graduating from the gymnasium, a young man becomes a student at the Moscow Institute of Physics. In parallel with his studies, Sergeev (actor) is employed in the cooperative as an agent. He gives some of his earnings to his parents in order to improve the family's financial situation.

At the height of the civil war, the young man abandons his studies and, at his own request, replenishes the ranks of the Armed Forces. In the army, he acts as secretary of the garrison club and plays in performances organized by the department of public education.

Learning acting skills

After serving, Nikolai Sergeyev wants to forever associate his life with theater and cinema. In 1921 he became a student of the acting faculty of the Lunacharskyi Technical College. The young man, realizing that those who study, have a hard time from a material point of view, get a job in the railway station and in the museum of visual aids under the Moscow Union of Artists.

Carier start

In 1925, Nikolai Sergeev, whose biography is of great interest to Russian film critics, receives a document confirming that he is a professional actor.

Where to go to work? This question was the most important for the newly-made lycée. He replaced not one institution of culture, before finding oneself in art.

At first he performed on the stage of the Moscow House of Amateur Art named after Polenov. Then, until 1930, he worked in the club's underclub at the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions. After Sergeev (actor) once again changes his place of work, hitting the staff of the Krupskaya House of Amateur Art.

In the period from 1932 to 1936, Nikolai Vasilievich is in the troupe of the Theater of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions. Then he moves to the Central Theater of the Red Army (CTCA). During the war Sergeyev worked for some time in the Moscow Philharmonic Society, and later became an actor of the 1st front-line theater of the WTO. In the fall of 1943, the maestro returned to CTCA and served on the stage of this Melpomene church until 1959.

Prospects for the cinema

As already emphasized, fame and recognition in the movies to Nikolai Vasilyevich came late, when he was already at a respectable age. Why is not in demand in the young years was on the set of Sergeev? The actor began acting in the movies back in the 30s, but he got episodic roles. Unfortunately, in the pre- and post-war years in the USSR, relatively few paintings were shot and it is likely that for this objective reason Nikolai Vasilievich could not adequately reveal his potential.

Only from the second half of the 50s the film industry received new development and the country needed actors capable of playing new characters and images.

Career in cinema

Nikolai Sergeev, whose filmography counts more than sixty roles, according to many film critics, has brought his own individuality to the art of reincarnation. This distinguished his work from the play of actors who "made a name for themselves" in the 1930s. It is possible that this is the key to his demand for cinema in mature years.

Soviet viewer remembered Nikolai Vasilyevich on the role of the worker Alexander Basmanov in the film "The Big Family" (director I. Kheifits, 1954).

The film was a huge success. Next, the famous Mikhail Schweitzer invited Sergeyev to appear in his painting.

Images that brought success

The director staged the film "Another's kin" (1955) and the maestro suggested that the role of Silanti Petrovich Ryashkin was by no means a secondary one.

He agreed and was able to translate as authentically into the image of a peasant defending his own interests. The film "Another's kin" was triumphal for the actor.

In the late 50's, Nikolai Vasilyevich increasingly appears on the stage, focusing on working in the cinema. His talent as an actor on the set does not cease to admire the spectator after the release of such films as "Sasha enters life" (directed by M. Schweitzer, 1956), "Difficult Happiness" (directed by A. Stolper, 1958), "The sun shines for all "(Directed by K. Voinov, 1959).

Another film of glory to Sergeyev is brought by a film shot by A. Tarkovsky. Speech, of course, is about "Andrei Rublyov" (1966-1969). Andrei Arsenievich and saw in the intelligent Sergeyev, the owner of an ascetic face, a lean figure and expressive eyes, the image of Theophanes the Greek.

A separate mention deserves the painting "Alive and the Dead" (directed by A. Stolper, 1963), in which Nikolai Vasilyevich got the secondary but bright role of Sintsov's neighbor.

The actor has someone to play

In the 1970s Sergeyev's film career was marked by the peak. During this period of his biography the filmmakers literally filled up his proposals. And despite the fact that these were not the main roles, the actor agreed to shoot and did his work filigree and masterful, so his characters immediately crashed into the memory of the viewer.

Nikolai Vasilyevich knew how to transfer the inner world of his heroes, like no one else, whether it be an industrious icon painter or an intelligent teacher. In 1971, he was awarded the title People's Artist of the RSFSR.

One of the most recent roles of the maestro is Athanasius Rtishchev in the film "A Tale about the way Peter Arapa married" (directed by A. Mitta, 1976). Actor at that time was already 82 years old.

And in 1980, Sergei last time on the set. At the age of 86 he played the part of Nikolai Yegorovich in Mikhail Rych's film "Investigation".

Outside the profession

Actor Nikolai Sergeev, whose personal life has developed quite successfully, was married to actress Olga Vasilievna Dolgova. Their family idyll lasted until the very death of the maestro. Nikolai Vasilievich and Olga Vasilievna forever associated the theater of the Soviet Army, in which they served for many years. When the actor decided to leave the stage, his wife followed his example, devoting herself to keeping the hearth. In his marriage, Nikolai Vasilievich had no children, but he cared for his niece Svetlana, who lived with the Sergeevs and was a member of the family.

Colleagues of Nikolai Vasilyevich note his natural intelligence, kindness and decency in relations with others. At leisure, he was fond of archeology and history. He loved spending time at his own dacha and taking care of roses, which he simply adored: he arranged a whole alley of these beautiful flowers on the site.

When the actor celebrated the anniversary of 85 years, he was awarded the Order of Merit in the art of cinematography.

At the very beginning of 1988, Nikolai Vasilyevich broke the neck of the hip and was hospitalized. The maestro died on January 8, 1988. Only a few relatives and director Joseph Kheifits came to the humble funeral. He was buried at the Vagankovo Cemetery in the capital.
