Fungal skin damage - treatment and prevention

Fungal skin damage is very common nowadays. The medical name of this disease is mycosis. Its pathogen is a skin fungus - specific microorganisms of various species. As a rule, fungal infection is most often found on the skin of the legs, namely the feet. The disease is contagious.

There may be a fungal lesion of the skin due to various reasons. First, it can be cracks in the skin of the legs, especially the interdigital skin. Cracks occur on very dry skin in people with excessive sweating of the feet. Secondly, fungus can occur with frostbite, vascular disease, varicose veins, with a constant load on the legs, as well as with low immunity and diseases of the endocrine glands.

How does the fungal infection of the skin occur? First of all, the disease can be transmitted from an already afflicted person, from contact through personal items. You can get infected through shoes, socks, as well as in public places - a swimming pool, various steam rooms and saunas, a manicure room, a gym. In these places, high humidity, namely humidity and temperature, is a favorable environment for fungus development. Skin of the legs is very vulnerable to this disease, because it contains a large amount of keratin. Getting on the skin of the feet, the fungus immediately acts - it begins to grow actively. First the nails are affected, and then the skin itself . Nails become dull, their usual shine disappears, and the color changes to yellow or black. Nails are constantly broken. There is a deformation of the plate - either it thickens, or, conversely, it becomes very thin. There is pain, because due to thickening there is pressure on the skin. The skin around the nail can become inflamed.

When the nail is struck, the fungus spreads onto the skin itself. In the beginning of the disease, cracks are formed in the interdigital space, the peeling begins, and a very intense itching occurs. Sweat under the influence of the fungus acquires a sharp and unpleasant odor. It is very difficult for a person to endure periods of exacerbation, when there is a rash in the form of red spots, bubbles and large foci of erosion.

Diagnosis of fungal skin damage and appoint the right treatment can only dermatologists. First of all, take a scraping - a skin sample, to determine the variety of fungus. Then antifungal medicines are prescribed, the optimal course of treatment is selected. Self-medication here will not help, because the therapy prescribed by the doctor takes into account all the features of the ongoing disease. You can, of course, try some antifungal drug of a wide spectrum of action. But, nevertheless, you should not postpone visiting a specialist for tomorrow, as the fungus spreads more and more every day, bringing pain and discomfort. It is always easier to stop the disease at the initial stage of its development than to treat an already old disease.

Fungus of the foot is dangerous because it is very difficult to stop the process of its development. If you have been treated, but have not cured the disease, if there is at least a tiny cluster of microorganisms, the fungus will flare up again with the same strength. If the treatment does not start on time, then other skin areas will be infected.

It is necessary to remember and preventive measures to combat fungus. Avoid trying on someone else's shoes, all the more so do not do it on a bare foot. Regularly wash your feet with soap, then wipe them dry, especially between your fingers. Handle shoes, which you walked all day, some deodorant. Take care of your health, take the necessary preventive measures, and the fungus will never visit you.
