History of the theater

Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov or the Moscow Art Theater has existed since 1889. In 1919 its name changed. He turned into the Moscow Art Theater named after AP Chekhov. The letter "A" appeared in the abbreviation meant Academic. The first performance of the theater is "Tsar Feodor Ioannovich". He was put on the play by AK Tolstoy. Konstantin Stanislavsky and VI Nemirovich-Danchenko decided to create their own theater in 1897. At first it was called "Artistic-Public". But in 1901 it became known as the Moscow Art Theater. In the first troupe worked: V. Meyerhold, V. Kachalov, O. Knipper, M. Savitskaya and others. Theater Chekhov MHT is the first in the country where the reform of the repertoire was conducted. It was here that a new type of actor was formed, which conveys all the features of the psychology of the character, new principles have arisen in the director's work. The sixties of the 20th century were for the theater crisis. Many new plays were not successful, the generation of actors was replaced. The way out of the crisis was due to the fact that in the 70s the theater was headed by Oleg Efremov. The troupe was replenished by outstanding artists: O.Tabakov, I.Smoktunovsky, A.Myagkov, A.Kalyagin, E.Evstigneev, T. Doronina, E.Vasilieva. In the 1980s, discord began in the theater, which led to a conflict. As a result , the troupe divided into two groups. One of whom remained with O. Efremov in the Moscow Art Theater named after A.Chekhov. Another headed T. Doronina. It was called the Moscow Art Theater named after M.Gorky. In 2000, after the death of O. Efremov, the head of the theater was O. Tabakov. He made changes in the repertoire. The best directors were invited to perform the productions. A new scene was opened, which is intended for creative experiments. In 2004, the theater was returned to its original name - the Moscow Art Theater. In 1923 a museum was opened at it. Oleg Tabakov

In 2000, the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov was led by a remarkable Russian actor and director Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov. He holds the title of People's Artist of the USSR and is a laureate of various state prizes. O. Tabakov graduated from the acting department of the Moscow Art Theater School. His first role in the theater is a student named Misha in the play "Forever Alive". Debut Oleg Pavlovich in the movie took place in 1956. He played the main role in the film "Sasha enters life." In total, O. Tabakov played about two hundred roles. From 1986 to 2000 he held the post of rector of the Moscow Art Theater School. Debut of O.
