Excavator EK-14: specifications and modifications

The excavator is actively used at all construction sites: when erecting a roadbed, for clearing the territory. With its help, up to 80-90% of all excavation work is done on the construction site. Therefore, special equipment must be highly productive, reliable and durable.

The first mention of this "miracle technique" dates back to 1420. A little later, in 1500, Leonardo da Vinci used his invention to build a canal in one of the cities of Italy. This type of construction machinery is in demand for more than 500 years.

A prominent representative of domestic engineering is the excavator EK-14. Technical characteristics of the machine are not inferior to those of many foreign models, and availability and an acceptable price make it one of the best on the Russian market.

Characteristics of the machine EK-14

The excavator is equipped with a shovel on a pneumatic wheel, a bucket device with a capacity of 0.8 m3 and a turntable. The model is actively used in construction, municipal, road and road transport spheres of human activity.

Model ЕК-14-60

Depending on the modification, the model is completed with one of two power plants: domestic D-243, or foreign - Perkins 1104C-44. The foreign-made engine is installed exclusively on the EK-14-60 excavator. The technical characteristics of the foreign engine are as follows:

• Volume - 4.4 liters;
• The maximum torque is 392 Nm;
• Rotational speed at the optimal operating mode - 2,2 thousand rpm;
• Power - 123 horsepower.

The foreign power plant with a turbocharger and a direct fuel injection mechanism is slightly higher than the standard EK-14 excavator. The technical characteristics of the D-243 engine are as follows:

• The volume of the cylinders is 4.75 liters;
• Rotation speed in the nominal operating mode - 2,4 thousand revolutions per minute;
• Power - 85 kW.

The D-243 engine is also installed on the EK-14-20 modification. The choice between the model EK-14 and its modification EK-14-60 follows, guided by the goals and terms of the task. There is no significant difference in the cost of the presented copies of the technique.

Other Modifications

The most accessible modification of the presented machine is the EK-14-20 excavator. Its technical characteristics do not differ from those of the standard model. The power plant is the same. The differences are only in the configuration. Model 14-20 is produced with standard equipment of bucket type at 0.8 m ³ .

The copy of EK-14-30 is the second available technique of this category. It is characterized by the presence of a hydraulic motor and a hydraulic pump of the Bosch-Rexroth brand. Similar equipment is completed and a copy of 14-60. The presence of additional units determines greater functionality and productivity.

Advantages of technology

Special equipment EK-14 and its modified models are unpretentious. Hydraulic cylinders of the company Bosch equipped with an excavator EK-14. Due to this, the technical characteristics are significantly improved, which is another advantage.

The cabin of the car is distinguished by a new, modern design and has a large glazing area. This, in combination with the swivel platform, facilitates the driver's work. Other advantages are:

• Increased load capacity, which reduces the time of operations;
• Replacement bucket with volumes of 0.4, 0.5 and 0.65 m3;

It is able to perform operations at a temperature of -40 ^o to +40 ^o , in conditions of strong dust and in any weather. Additionally, the excavator can come complete with removable handles of 220, 280 and 340 cm in length.

Interchangeable equipment

One of the features of the excavator is its versatility. Due to various types of replacement equipment, it can perform a wide range of operations. The most popular on the market are:

• Hydraulic hammer - with its help destroy asphalt concrete pavements, brick walls and partitions, loosen and compact the soil;
• Clamshell bucket - is necessary for the construction of deep wells, excavations in cramped conditions;
• Ripper - installed before removing the road surface and cleaning the borders.

This characteristic of the EK-14 excavator proves its high functionality and productivity, as well as its adaptability to various construction works.
