Erickson's hypnosis: what is its peculiarity?

To date, Ericksonian hypnosis is considered the most effective method of treating psychological abnormalities. Practitioners from all over the world use this technique to treat fears, depressions, post-traumatic syndromes, various dependencies, behavior problems.

Ericksonian hypnosis was first used by the famous scientist Milton Erickson, who used this technique to solve his own problems. The techniques of this hypnosis can not be called artificial, since they are taken from the life of an ordinary person. Convinced of the effectiveness of this method, Erickson began to use it and on his patients.

Hypnosis Erickson and its benefits

Contrary to the conviction of most people, this technique of hypnosis does not mean suggestion, only immersion in one's own consciousness. Doctors using this technique, immerse a person in a trance.

In fact, trance - this is the thing with which time about time is encountered by every person in everyday life. This state of deep thoughtfulness, during which a person ceases to react to external stimuli, loses track of time and completely sinks into itself. Quite often it happens during a ride on a bus or train. Suddenly, you stop noticing all third-party sounds, the view from the window and all the other passengers. Time starts to run faster and you do not even notice how you approach your stop. It is this phenomenon that is considered a trance.

Ericksonian hypnosis and the meaning of trance

Milton Erickson believed that this technique is suitable for rapid training. During the introduction to the trance, the doctor helps the patient to remove all restrictions, fears, phobias and experiences related to the accumulated experience and to reconstruct oneself, own opinion and perception of the environment.

Ericksonovky hypnosis uses the concepts of "conscious" and "unconscious". The conscious part of the person is responsible for perception, criticism, logical thinking, reaction to events, in a word, thinks rationally. For such processes corresponds to the left hemisphere of the brain (the right one is left-handed).

As for the unconscious, here all the memories and impressions are stored. The right hemisphere of the human brain is responsible for creative and extrasensory abilities, body memory, music perception, spontaneous actions. This is precisely the part of the human consciousness in which literally unlimited knowledge and possibilities lie.

During the immersion of a person into trance, the activity of the left hemisphere slows down and the patient is immersed in the unconscious, gaining access to such resources, which he had not previously suspected. It is in this state that the most often comes the ready solution of problems, inspiration, interesting ideas.

On the other hand, it is in the unconscious part of man that the sources of his problems, illnesses and fears lie. It is impossible to detect them without trance. This feature is used to treat diseases, not only mental, but also to eliminate fears and complexes.

Classical and Ericksonian hypnosis: what's the difference?

The classical approach to hypnosis implies the complete submission of the patient to the hypnotist. In the technique of Erikson the doctor is just a guide to the subconscious, he only points the way. In addition, Ericksonian hypnosis leads to the complete release of a person.

With traditional hypnosis, the subject is injected with certain feelings, thoughts or ideas that do not belong to him, and therefore will not be too effective. When introduced into a trance using Erikson's technique, the patient is not inspired with anything new. The goal here is to release the knowledge, experience, sensations and resources that already exist in the human subconscious, and on their basis create completely new ideas and discover the sources of problems.
