Earthing yourself? It's easy and simple!

Still there are houses in which there is no ground. And this means that neither people nor property in such a house are protected from malfunctions in various electrical equipment. Having bought such a house, owners have to take the necessary measures for electrical safety, to ground themselves.

Earthing should be carried out everywhere: as in ordinary houses, and in shops, restaurants, cafes, karaoke bars. It must be taken into account that dangerous without grounding is singing into the microphone on the street or holding concerts in the rain. In rainy weather, it is better to conduct these activities in enclosed spaces.

When grounding a building, steel is most often used as a more economical material. Also, copper or copper-coated steel can be used as a grounding electrode.

It is quite possible to ground yourself with your own hands. This work is not an archetypal one, and everyone will be able to do it. To carry out the installation of grounding, do not require large material investment and extensive knowledge in electrical, electrical installation.

The grounding system, in fact, is a set of electrodes that are dug in the ground and connected with each other by metal strips. There is stationary and portable grounding. Initially, for conducting grounding, it is necessary to excavate several, at least three, pits of medium size on the site. For example, the depth of these pits can be in two shovel bayonets. Then, in the resulting holes, it is necessary to sufficiently deepen the electrodes, the location of which depends on your own desire. After that, between the installed electrodes, you need to dig out small grooves, into which you should put the connecting conductors.

In doing so, it is not forbidden to use a steel wire that has a section of at least 50 mm². The next step is to switch to copper wire. All this is done with the help of bolted connections. It should be remembered that the cross-sections of the copper wire and the phase supply conductor must be equal.

There are several basic technical requirements for how to ground yourself:

  1. As ordinary electrodes, simple water pipes or banal steel corners can be used. The length of these electrodes should be 2 m, and the width - 40-50 mm. The total cross-sectional area must be at least 150 mm². It is necessary that the minimum distance between the existing earthing switches is 120 cm.
  2. Use in the form of connectors can be a steel strip, the width of which is 40 mm, or reinforcement with an approximate diameter of 0.1-0.12 cm. The fastening of the connecting strip to the electrode should be carried out by welding. In this case, the use of any other fasteners is prohibited!

Due to all of the above, it can be concluded that it is not difficult to ground yourself in the house. Adhering to these instructions, everyone will be able to provide in the house security for themselves and their property from power grid malfunctions.
