Do we know how chickenpox is transmitted?

Chickenpox or chickenpox doctors are referred to the group of "childhood" diseases, tk. Suffer from it usually in childhood up to 10 years. Chickenpox is transmitted by airborne droplets (in the wind) during communication and is an acute infectious disease. Therefore, if one of the children develops chickenpox, then within two to three months it already affects 85-90% of the children's collective, be it a kindergarten or a school. When a woman develops chickenpox, her life is immunized, and repeated infections with this virus are very rare.

It is difficult to find a person who does not know how the chickenpox is transmitted. Its official name "chicken pox" is explained by the fact that outwardly the rashes are very reminiscent of a terrible disease, although it has nothing to do with it. The causative agent of this disease is the Varicella-Zoster virus from the herpes family. This virus is transmitted only by airborne droplets and dies in a few minutes while staying in the environment. The problem is that with knowledge of how chickenpox is transmitted, it is impossible at the right time to limit contact with carriers of infection. After all, a child who suffers from chickenpox becomes a carrier of infection long before the moment when he has rashes. Contact already took place and, alas, the process went on. And only after 14-16 days after contact can the first signs of the disease appear.

The disease of chickenpox symptoms has the following:

• a high temperature appears;

• poor health, fatigue, irritability;

• There is a lack of appetite;

• There is a headache, a sore throat.

Eruptions, as a rule, appear 1-2 days later than the first signs of the disease in the form of red swollen spots. These spots go to vesicles, at the rupture of which fluid flows out. After healing, the blisters are covered with a dry crust.

Within 1-2 days, the red spot passes through all the intermediate stages from blister to dry crust, but in severe cases the number of such vesicles constantly increases due to new rashes. They can not be squeezed out or combed. The course of the disease is aggravated by getting into the combed skin of a skin infection, which can lead to the formation of scars and scars at the site of the blisters. Especially often this complication is found in small children.

The disease in adults, oddly enough, occurs in a more severe form, and more often complications occur. Especially dangerous are complications of a bacterial nature, such as encephalitis, which, although in rare cases, but can be fraught with a fatal outcome. Chickenpox refers to infectious diseases, which it is desirable to survive in childhood, so that a person has developed immunity for life.

Above we considered how chickenpox is transmitted. But it's also worth knowing that this same Varicella-Zoster virus is the cause of a disease such as shingles. And if a person has had chickenpox as a child, he is protected by immunity from a recurrence of chickenpox, including from infection with shingles.

To prevent the development of complications in European countries, doctors recommend that children be vaccinated against chicken pox. But vaccination can not give lifelong immunity. In the adult condition, a disease with chickenpox can be more dangerous than in a child. In Russia, doctors do not support the idea of vaccinating children against chickenpox. Although planning a pregnancy for women who have not had it in childhood, vaccination against chickenpox can do good work, because complications after illness during pregnancy can affect the health of an unborn child.

That's all I would like to say briefly about how the chickenpox is transmitted and how to recognize this disease.
