Dimensions of the terrace board from larch

The terrace board is a modern material used for floor installation both indoors and outdoors. There are only two of its main varieties: natural and composite. The first type is made of wood of different breeds. The most popular in this case is a board made of larch. According to its performance characteristics, it is not much different from oak, it costs a little less. Dimensions of the terrace board of this type are usually standard.

Advantages of a natural terrace board

In the production of this type of material from larch, an array of certain dimensions, quality and weight are used. From the usual such a board differs only in that its front surface has a corrugated texture. In the production process, this material is treated with antiseptic agents. The merits of it can be attributed primarily to the fact that it is not damaged at all during the cleaning of snow by a shovel in the winter period of time. In the summer, the terrace board from larch completely does not slip. Also, the advantages of this material include increased strength and resistance to unfavorable environmental factors: temperature drops, humidity, etc.

In addition, an esthetic appearance is considered an advantage of a larch terrace board. The wood of this variety has a very beautiful texture. In addition, the terrace board of this type is laid in a special way - with small gaps, which gives the floor a special charm. Dimensions of the terrace board from larch are about the same as those of the usual genital. It can be used not only on verandas and in arbors. Very often, it is the paths adjacent to the house, the swimming pool, the summer kitchen, etc.

Standard dimensions

Most often for the arrangement of floors and paths a typical terrace board is used. Its dimensions are standard. The width is 140 mm, the length is 4 m, the thickness is 27-28 mm. However, if you want, you can order or find on sale material and other dimensions. Sometimes, for some reason, it is more convenient for the owners of suburban areas to use lamellae, the length of which is, for example, 2 meters, 3, 5 or 5.5.

Also very popular options are a cheaper terraced board made of larch 20 mm thick and more expensive by 35-45 mm. Sometimes when finishing the floor of verandas and arbors, a wide material is used for 165 and 190 mm, or, on the contrary, narrow - for 90 or 115 cm.

What does the cost depend on?

The dimensions of the atypical terraced board can thus be different. In direct dependence on the dimensions is the cost of this material. Sell it not with cubic meters, like a regular board, but with square or running meters. So, a standard lamella on 140 mm long 4 m can cost from 800 to 1600 rubles. For 1 m 2 depending on the quality of the wood.

When calculating the material necessary for arranging the floor on a veranda or in a gazebo, it should be borne in mind that such boards are laid with a gap of about 3-7 mm.

Installation Methods

Mounted terraced board, the dimensions of which are quite comfortable for assembly, just like the usual flooring on pre-laid logs. The distance between the last should be about 40-70 cm (depending on the expected load). Above the ground, lags are raised at least 10 cm. This space is necessary for draining rainwater and ventilating. If this gap is not left, the logs will quickly rot.

Actually, the board itself can be fastened in two ways: open or hidden. In the first case, stainless steel screws are used. With this fixation technique, the assembled floor looks riveted, which is very unusual and original.

With a secret fastening method, special metal clips with spikes are used. In this case, the boards are screwed with screws from the end. Slots between the elements are left to prevent water from stagnating on the terrace or veranda. Before the assembly of the floor, as well as after it, the board is covered with special oil-based facilities intended for wood. Every few years of operation, this operation should be repeated.

Board made of polymer composites

The material, made of larch, is distinguished by its durability and aesthetic appeal. In addition, this board is absolutely safe in terms of ecology. However, it costs a lot. Meanwhile, the market has a similar material, even more durable and resistant to moisture, but at the same time less expensive. This is a terraced board made of polymer composites. Inferior to the material from larch mainly in terms of environmental safety.

Modern board terraced polymer: dimensions

The material of this type is made from sawdust and polymers. The mass is squeezed out of a special installation in the form of a rippled hollow plate of ideal geometry. The colors of the composite material can vary widely.

The standard dimensions of the terraced polymer board are 140x4000 mm. That is exactly the same as the material from the larch. The only thing, its thickness is usually a bit smaller (20-23 mm).

Mounting Features

There is a terrace board made of wood-polymer composite, the dimensions of which are standard, in the region of 300-400 rubles per running meter. The required number is calculated taking into account the gaps, the width of which can be 4-7 mm. Mount it in exactly the same way as made of natural material - that is, on special secret clips. The difference is that at the end of the assembly in this case there is no need for additional oil treatment or any other means. Caring for polymer material is also much easier than for a terraced board made of larch or some other natural material.

Thus, you now know what are the standard dimensions of the terraced board from larch and composite. Both materials are mounted elementary. And, although the price of a terraced board is quite high, buy it for your veranda or gazebo is worth it. After all, it will last much longer than usual sexual or edging. And in any case, such a finish looks much more solid.
