Dichondra "Silvery Falls" - an amazing plant

Not so long ago in the room gardening there was a novelty. It became a beautiful ornamental foliage ampel plant, called "Silver dichondra". For the first time it was presented at the International Exhibition on Horticulture "Flowers-2004". There, this plant became the owner of a silver medal.

Description

Dikhondra "Silvery Falls" refers to a vast family of corolla. There are about ten species of this amazing plant. Homeland dichondra are considered subtropical and tropical bogs, as well as wet forests of America, East Asia and Australia.

Dichondra "Silvery Falls" is an ampel plant, which does not require special care. It has thin numerous whips that hang down two meters, and in warm climates - up to six. The branches, covered with small silvery leaves, can spread along the surface of the soil. The flowers of the plant are of little interest, since they are rather plain in appearance.

Use in Design

Dichondra "Silvery Falls" is considered one of the best decorative deciduous crops that are planted in flower pots or hanging baskets. The plant is loved by the masters of phyto-design. It attracts attention by the unusual color of the leaves, which can serve as a magnificent background for any flowering crops.
If you decide in your winter garden to create an imitation of a lake or a flowing stream, then you need a diodher "Silver Waterfall". Photos of these design decisions indicate the ability of the plant to serve as a true decoration of any site. The descending stems of the dichondra reach the soil and take root and continue to grow.

Especially attractive this culture looks under the trees of the garden and in the shade where lawn grasses can not grow. Dichondra "Silver Waterfall" is often sown in between the slabs of paths on the inner courtyards.

Care

Decoration of any room will become a diodra "Silver Waterfall". Feedback from the owners of these plants suggests that they feel great in the penumbra or in the sun. The temperature in the room where the dichondra is located should be between eighteen and twenty degrees. It is highly undesirable for the air to cool below the ten degree mark.

The plant of swampy terrain is the amazing dinar "Silver Waterfall". Cultivation should take place in moist air. In such conditions, it feels much better. In dry air, the plant should be sprayed.

To water a dichondra is recommended in time, after all this plant has got used to a damp soil. However, in this case there should be good drainage in the container, since the plant disappears in places of stagnant water. But to overdry, no matter how surprising, the dichondra is quite stable.

Feeding is carried out in the summer, when there is an intensive growth of this decorative culture. To do this, it is sufficient to apply a conventional fertilizer once every fourteen days. If the plant is indoor, then in winter it should not be fed.

In order for the decorative dichondra to have a thicker and more beautiful crown, the branches should be cut off regularly. For the winter, the plant must be moved to the room. Before this, all long hinges should be removed.

As for the soil, then to its composition dichondra is not particularly demanding. The recommended acidity is in the range from 3.3 to 8 pH.

Reproduction by seeds

Young shoots of the dichondra can be obtained from stem cuttings. For planting, seeds of the plant that need to be sown in a bowl in January or February are suitable.

For the sake of good germination, it is required to create a comfortable environment for the plant. The bowl should be covered with glass. It requires the maintenance of constant temperature values (from twenty-two to twenty-four degrees), as well as high humidity. About a week after planting, sprouts appear. From this point, the glass from the plate needs to be gradually removed. Seedlings need to dive. However, this should be done only after two leaves appear on the shoots. In this case, the shoots are transferred to separate small-sized containers, the diameter of which should be ten centimeters. The dyhondra "Silvery waterfall" have green color. Young specimens grow very slowly. The most beautiful ornamentation will reach an amazing plant only after three or three and a half months.

Vegetative reproduction

Much more simple is the reproduction of stem stems. Truncate the dichondrum fairly often. Cuttings obtained after cutting, easily take root in the greenhouse. A growing shoot can simply be laid on wet ground and pinned in several places.

When roots grow into the soil, the stem can be cut. In this case, the temperature of the ambient air should be in the range of twenty-two to twenty-four degrees.
