Dichondra "Silvery Falls" - an amazing plant

Not so long ago in the room gardening there was a novelty. It became a beautiful ornamental foliage ampel plant, called "Silver dichondra". For the first time it was presented at the International Exhibition on Horticulture "Flowers-2004". There, this plant became the owner of a silver medal.

Description

Dikhondra "Silvery Falls" refers to a vast family of corolla. There are about ten species of this amazing plant. Homeland dichondra are considered subtropical and tropical bogs, as well as wet forests of America, East Asia and Australia.

Dichondra "Silvery Falls" is an ampel plant, which does not require special care. It has thin numerous whips that hang down two meters, and in warm climates - up to six. The branches, covered with small silvery leaves, can spread along the surface of the soil. The flowers of the plant are of little interest, since they are rather plain in appearance.

Use in Design

Dichondra "Silvery Falls" is considered one of the best decorative deciduous crops that are planted in flower pots or hanging baskets. The plant is loved by the masters of phyto-design. It attracts attention by the unusual color of the leaves, which can serve as a magnificent background for any flowering crops.

Care

Reproduction by seeds

Young shoots of the dichondra can be obtained from stem cuttings. For planting, seeds of the plant that need to be sown in a bowl in January or February are suitable.

For the sake of good germination, it is required to create a comfortable environment for the plant. The bowl should be covered with glass. It requires the maintenance of constant temperature values (from twenty-two to twenty-four degrees), as well as high humidity. About a week after planting, sprouts appear. Vegetative reproduction

Much more simple is the reproduction of stem stems. Truncate the dichondrum fairly often. Cuttings obtained after cutting, easily take root in the greenhouse. A growing shoot can simply be laid on wet ground and pinned in several places.
