'Almagel'. Types of this medicine

More than 40 years ago, the first combined antacid drug based on algalate - "Almagel" was invented. Types of such antacid preparations quickly gained popularity among people suffering from heartburn, which occurs against the background of the main diseases: gastritis, esophagitis, duodenitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease. Indications for the use of "Almagel" are a hernia of the esophagus , a stomach ulcer. There is a great variety of products produced by various companies from heartburn, the best of them consider, nevertheless, the Bulgarian preparation "Almagel". Analogues of this drug are widely represented in the market of medicines. In their composition, as well as in the main product contains aluminum hydroxide, which has a neutralizing effect on hydrochloric acid. Magnesium chloride prevents the formation of constipation, in conjunction with D-sorbitol, which is also included in the composition and, in addition to the laxative effect, promotes the excretion of bile from the body.

"Almagel" - a sweet, white, thick gel has a somewhat astringent taste. Due to its viscosity, the drug is evenly distributed over the walls of the stomach, which allows it to act effectively for a longer time. A few minutes later, the patient who took the drug feels relieved and for an hour or even three hours, it does not disturb heartburn and stomach pain. Since the creation of the drug "Almagel", its varieties appeared: "Almagel-A", "Almagel T" (in tablets), "Almagel Neo".

The types of this preparation have the following features. "Almagel-A" is taken if the underlying disease is accompanied by enough severe pain in the stomach, nausea, vomiting. In the preparation "Almagel-A" contains anesthesin, which allows to achieve an analgesic effect.

If gastritis, duodenitis and ulcer are accompanied by heartburn, belching, constipation, bloating, flatulence, the best solution will be the newest line of drugs - "Almagel Neo". Simecticon, which is part of its composition, will help the stomach to quickly cope with increased gas production.

"Almagel", the types of which have been described above, are taken orally, following the dosage specified in the instructions. Adults take up to 2 teaspoons at a time, but not more than 16 teaspoons per day. A third of a single dose of an adult is prescribed for treatment of children under 10 years of age, and older adults, up to 15 years of age, are given half of the adult standard. Take "Almagel" 4 times a day, about half an hour before meals and at night. In no case do not drink the drug and do not drink at least for 30 minutes, so as not to reduce the therapeutic properties of Almagel. Immediately after admission, lie down and slightly turn from side to side so that the drug is distributed better over the walls of the stomach. If you concomitantly prescribed other medications, then they should be taken only an hour and a half after the application of Almagel. The full course of treatment usually lasts up to two weeks, but can be long, up to four weeks. The time of treatment is determined by the doctor. It is worth considering that pregnant women are not recommended for more than 3 days to use the drug "Almagel". Types of the drug, like the drug itself, are usually well tolerated, however, side effects can cause vomiting, nausea, and taste change. The patient may complain of constipation or even pain that occurs in the stomach after taking the medication. Drowsiness occurs only when taking large doses of the drug. With a long course of treatment, include in the diet more food, rich in phosphorus.

Contraindications to the use of the drug are such diseases as hypophosphatemia, impaired kidney function, Alzheimer's disease, individual intolerance of components, including fructose. Children should not be given a drug.
