Dali Speakers: technical specifications and photos

About a year ago in Munich there was another exhibition "High End 2015", where novelties and technological gadgets were presented in the broadest musical spectrum. Among the many interesting devices on the results of the event, speakers Dali were especially prominent. No matter how they tried to eclipse the venerable and titled participants of the exhibition, the system gained exceptionally positive assessments of the jury and liked many fans of high-quality acoustics.

So, what are the good Dali speakers? Overview, features, photos and expert opinions along with reviews of simple AU owners you will find in the article. Consider the advantages along with the disadvantages of the most distinguished line of OPTICON.

Positioning

"Opticon" Dali - acoustic systems from the increasingly popular Danish producer. One of the main advantages and advantages of the brand is a careful and extremely balanced compliance with the proportions of "price / quality / return". The designers did not neglect the design of the models, making the system really attractive and beautiful.

Due to its low cost, the Dali acoustic systems of the Optikon line are positioned as middle class, that is, the series is available to a wide range of consumers. Price tags can range from $ 350 to $ 1,400 for each single model, which is quite acceptable for ordinary connoisseurs of quality acoustics. Well, a single set of "Hi-Fi" class is rightfully considered an excellent option for creating a full-scale home theater from Dali.

Acoustic systems (characteristics of the Optikon series) have a narrow range of proprietary designs. For example, the same LF / MF radiators using dynamic heads from 120 mm (the youngest and the smallest) to 200 mm in older models. With the exception of tweeters, all speakers are designed exclusively for the patented technology "Dali".

Design

Emitters have a traditional reddish-brown color and are made from a mix of wood fibers. High-frequency heads (tweeters) stand somewhat apart from the overall design. In the new series you can see two types of tweeters with different edging.

The first type is a standard radiator (almost) with a diameter of 26 mm, while similar competing systems are completed entirely with a 25 mm head. The second type has a flat structure in the form of a tape driver with dimensions of 17 x 45 mm. All this provides a musical picture with a high degree of detail, filling the environment with a clear, light and airy sound.

Dali OPTICON 1

Dali acoustic systems "Opticon 1" are the younger models of the new line of the Danish brand. By its dimensions, the "baby" does not go beyond the usual A4 sheet. The weight of the system is approximately 4.5 kg.

The case is equipped with two radiators: low / medium frequency and tweeter. LF and MF heads have a diameter of 120 mm, and high-frequency radiator - no more than 26 mm. The range varies between 70-26000 Hz, which is typical for the younger Dali rulers. Speaker systems (the technical characteristics of the emitters do not exceed the threshold of 30,000 Hz) Opticon 1 will work fine with amplifiers from 25 to 100 watts, so it is useless to spend extra and expensive equipment.

Dali OPTICON 2

"Optikon 2" is a little more powerful model, if you compare it with the previous one. Naturally, this was reflected in the dimensions of the device, which, although slightly, but still increased: 351 x 195 x 297 mm. The weight of the construction was added, almost 8 kg.

Speakers Dali "Optikon 2" have a two-band configuration and belong to the shelf devices. The emitter of low and medium frequencies, in contrast to the first model, already has a diameter of 165 mm, but with the same tweeter in 26 mm of fabric material. The range of output frequencies differs from the younger model for the better and fluctuates within the range of 60-27 000 Hz. To supply acoustics, it will be enough to use a conventional amplifier with a power of 40 to 150 watts.

"Optikon 2" is a vivid example of the qualitative minimalism that the brand Dali (acoustic systems) is famous for. Reviews about the models of the second series are extremely positive, so they can be recommended to people whose space is strictly calculated, but you need high-quality acoustics.

Dali OPTICON 5

The fifth series is one of the most compact floor type acoustic systems, but this does not prevent it from being simultaneously powerful. Dimensions, of course, differ from the previous two models in the larger side: 891 x 195 x 310 mm with a weight of almost 16 kg.

The width of the column made it possible to acquire a familiar low and medium frequency radiator by 165 mm with a customary tweeter of 26 mm. A little higher you can see a well-entered tape driver.

The frequency range of the fifth series can not but rejoice - from 50 Hz to 32 kHz. For such frequencies, the optimum option will be an amplifier with a power of 30 to 150 watts and preferably branded, from the same Dali. Speakers (the description for "Optikon 5") was developed for amplifiers with a power of 30 watts, but judging by the feedback of owners, it's useless to purchase a device below 50 watts - the technology will not fully reveal its potential.

Dali OPTICON 6

"Optikon 6" can be called the "golden mean" of the line: behind it is already a venerable flagship from Dali. Acoustic systems (photo below) of the sixth series can be called two and a half band devices with an impressive pair radiator of low and medium frequencies of 165 mm.

The range of output frequencies also underwent some changes and fluctuates between 50 Hz and 40 kHz. The amplifier should choose the appropriate power - from 50 and up to 200 W, so that such good speakers do not stand idle.

Dali OPTICON 8

The eighth series is the flagship models from Dali with solid dimensions and technical characteristics. At a weight of 35 kg, the columns have the appropriate dimensions: 1410 x 241 x 450 mm.

At the top of the system is a massive 200-mm driver at low frequencies, and in the opposite part of the column there is an identical "colleague". The middle part is assigned to a 26 mm tweeter, under which there is another low and medium frequency radiator for 165 mm. All sound is fed to an excellent balanced phase inverter, which is located on the back of the system.

As a result, it turns out that the acoustics of the eighth series can easily cope with the frequency range from 40 Hz to 50 kHz. This is a minus or a pleasant addition, but an amplifier for such a system needs at least 300 watts, otherwise you'll get just expensive speakers without the potential.

Dali Opticon LCR

The LCR series is a small and extravagant branch from the usual systems of the column type. The solution is intended specifically for those music lovers, whose space is extremely limited. The model has one of the thinnest corps of the brand's ruler, so it is suitable for a small computer desk or a place on the wall.

One of the interesting and serious advantages of the series is the ability to rotate the speaker system by changing the position of the high frequency network, transforming the speakers into a vertical or horizontal type.

High-frequency radiators are fringed with a round and beautiful metal insert, under (or above) is already a familiar 165-mm low- and mid-range speaker. The system showed itself perfectly in the range of 72 Hz - 32 kHz with an appropriate amplifier.

Numerous reviews about the model are entirely positive, but with some warnings: the system's dimensions (482 x 285 x 128 mm) allow the speaker to be placed on any suitable wall, but here the weight of the speakers (almost 9 kg) suggests that the "clasp" device Not worth it. The installation should be approached with all seriousness, otherwise one day the speakers will be on the floor or they will break your monitor. In addition, a quality installation will exclude any rattling on the body or strikes against the wall while listening to a particularly "hard" composition.

Dali OPTICON VOKAL

The last in the review, but not in power is the model with the "talking" prefix "Vocals". All of the above devices have a certain zone of authority. For example, the flagship of the line gives out an excellent volume and depth of sound, but until the households begin to chop back in response to the walls. Here and useful specially calibrated for such cases the model "Vocal", which focuses on the lower frequencies, but at the same time slightly infringing the upper ones.

The series shows excellent detailing of "ordinary" sound, like what a TV or most musical compositions produce, so this model can be recommended to an ordinary user without requests like Hardcore, Gabba or Drum and Bass.

Dimensions of the acoustic system are standardized: 201 x 435 x 312 mm with a weight of 9 kg. The speakers have two phase inverters, a pair of high-frequency radiators and a 165-mm speaker of low and medium frequencies. The frequency spread is quite acceptable - from 47 Hz to 30 kHz, so an amplifier with a power of 40-160 watts is enough.

Summarizing

The Opticon series is presented in three main scales: walnut, crystal white and black tones. Prices have a wide range, but the brand policy allows you to choose something for your needs in terms of quality and purse.

Prices ($):

  • Dali "Opticon 1" - 400;
  • Dali "Optikon 2" - 500;
  • Dali "Optikon 5" - 970;
  • Dali "Optikon 8" - 1480;
  • Dali "Optikon LCR" - 600;
  • Dali "Optikon VOKAL" - 700.

The above prices are per unit, that is, for one column, but as a rule, it is preferable, and it is more reasonable to buy such things in pairs, otherwise stereo sound will malfunction. In addition, one column looks somehow unpretentious, but this is the "taste and color" of each individual music lover.
