The nail grew into a finger: the causes and treatment
Disease, when the nail grows into a finger, is called onochryptosis. Quite often this occurs on the legs. When the nail plate grows into the lateral part of the nail roller, the inflammation begins in the soft tissues of the finger.
Why does this happen? The reasons in this case can be three. The first and the main - improper cutting the nail plate. Most often we try to cut the nail as short as possible, although the edges should be left rather high, and not try to grab as many as possible with sharp ends of scissors. In this case it turns out that when you grow a nail plate rests against the nail roller, the result - the fingernail grows into a finger.
The next reason is wearing inconvenient, narrow shoes. Basically, this applies to girls who prefer comfortable model shoes. In this case, at the first signs of the disease, it is better to just replace the shoes with a more practical one.
One more thing is onychomycosis. It is a fungal infection that causes the pathology of the nail plate, that is, its deformation. With this disease, if just a fingernail grows into a finger - this is the initial stage, but in the absence of treatment in this place there will be a permanent wound that will go further along the foot. By the way, such a disease is most often transmitted genetically, so if found near the next of kin it's better to be fully armed.
An indirect reason for the appearance of ingrowing nails can also be called a sharp increase in body weight, when the foot has too much load. It is worth noting that the consequences can be very serious: an increase in body temperature, even blood poisoning.
The treatment of onochryptosis can be divided into two types: conservative and surgical. The conservative method resorts to those who have the disease at an early stage, in which case a specialist manicure salon can help. Procedures are different: nail extensions (the old cuts and builds up with a gel, which subsequently ensures a smooth growth) and correction by means of plates, springs and other devices. The nail is raised, the wound is treated and begins to heal, and the nail plate continues to grow correctly.
The surgical method is used for a neglected disease. In the old days you would be offered to just remove the entire nail plate, but now there are more gentle methods. Removal of an ingrown nail by a laser is one such technique.
Based on all of the above, we can say that you should not wear tight shoes, you must carefully monitor the hygiene of your feet, as well as conduct a quality, better professional pedicure.
