Acute salpingo-oophoritis is a serious gynecological disease

Acute salpingo-oophoritis is a gynecological disease affecting the fallopian tubes and ovaries. In the event that there is no rational timely treatment, chronization of the pathological process can occur, which in the future can lead to infertility of the woman.

Causes

Inflammatory processes in the female organs are the most widespread diseases in the whole world. Gynecology of any country faces many cases of their occurrence each year. For example, the main cause of the development of acute salpingo-oophoritis is infection. And pathogenic microflora can be both nonspecific (streptococci, staphylococcus), and specific (chlamydia). Infection can penetrate from the lower parts of the reproductive system (uterus), and from the abdominal cavity (for example, with the development of appendicitis).

Symptomatics

This disease has a number of symptoms. Today, thanks to the development of technology, you can personally see how various gynecological diseases manifest themselves. Photos with clear signs of salpingo-oophoritis at the same time can not be found. The main symptoms of this disease are pain sensations that can be localized in both the iliac regions and in one of them. In addition, there are clear signs of intoxication (fever of up to 39 ºC, worsening of well-being, fast fatigue, etc.). In the event that this gynecological disease is not treated, the pathological process that began in the fallopian tubes also affects the ovaries. This leads to the formation of a so-called salpingo-ovarian tumor. Later, in the fallopian tubes, spikes begin to form. This prevents the passage of the egg, resulting in a woman developing infertility. Often there are parts of the fallopian tube bordered by spikes. They gradually accumulate water. In this case, they speak of the development of hydrosalpinx. If there is an infection in such a limited space, pus accumulates over time and a pyosalpinx is formed.

Treatment

This gynecological disease should begin to be treated as soon as possible. This is due to the fact that it tends to be chronic. The basis for the treatment of acute salpingo-oophoritis is antibacterial therapy. Initially, they are prescribed broad-spectrum drugs (cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, semi-synthetic penicillins). After it is established, as a result of the penetration of a pathogenic microorganism , this gynecological disease developed, antibiotics are selected taking into account the sensitivity of the detected infection to them. It is also often necessary to use proteolytic enzymes. They are necessary in order to prevent the appearance of adhesions. In the event that they are not used, it can lead to infertility even when the pathogenic microorganism is completely removed from the fallopian tubes and ovaries. Only full and rational treatment can prevent the development of complications.
