Yuri German is a well-known name in the history of Soviet literature. This writer, whose talent deservedly earned the love of both contemporaries and descendants.

Yuri German was born in the Russian Empire, in the city of Riga, in 1910. His father is an officer of the tsarist army, his mother is a teacher of Russian literature.

The writer's unusual name came from the German word "God's Man", his grandparents gave this name to his grandfather, because the real name was unknown because the German's grandfather was a foundling.

Father Yuri, following the example of other officers, went through the bloody First World War and civil war, eventually he joined the Bolsheviks.

Young Yuri graduated from the technical school of the theatrical arts, but devoted himself to literature. He wrote novels, stories and novels, worked on scenarios for films, and was engaged in journalism.

During the war with the German invaders, he spent four years fighting at the front, working as a correspondent, for which he was awarded combat medals.

At the end of my life I was able to go abroad and see my relatives who left Bolshevik Russia in the 1920s.

Yuri German was twice married, had two marriages of two sons - Michael and Alexei, the latter became a famous director.

The writer died in 1967 from a serious illness and was buried at the Bogoslovsky Cemetery in Leningrad.

The first literary successes

Yuri German early began to strive for a literary career. Already during his studies at the technical school, he was engaged in literary activity, since the age of 18 began to be published in journals.

His novel "Introduction", written in 1931, liked M. Gorky, which inspired the young writer to new works.

The writer was attracted by heroes, strong in spirit, honest and devoted to their duty, able to serve people. These were police officers, doctors, officers and soldiers from his many early works.

The cycle of stories by Herman about the activities of the famous Soviet leader of the Cheka, the "iron man" - Felix Dzerzhinsky, became widely known.

At the same time, Ivan Lapshin appears on the pages of the writer's books - a dedicated police officer who knows how to understand the psychology of the criminal, and the motives for the behavior of ordinary citizens.

Interested in the personality of the famous Russian doctor of the 19th century - N. I. Pirogov, Herman devotes several of his works ("Friend of the People" and "Son of the People").

Later work

Many interesting works are created in these years by Yuri Herman, the trilogy of several of his works becomes quite well-known. This included three stories. The first one was called "The Case You Serve", the second one - "My Dear One", and the third one was called "I'm Responsible for Everything".

These books were devoted to the life feat of the doctor Nikolai Evgenevich, who coordinated all his work with medical duty and ethics, selflessly loving his work and his patients. The doctor had a real prototype - a doctor from one of the city hospitals.

On the basis of impressions of the war, Herman wrote several of his works, which later became famous. This book "Check on the roads," the plot of which later formed the basis for the movie with the same name, and the book "My friend Ivan Lapshin," which later became a screenplay.

Roman Herman "Russia is young" became a real epic work in the writer's work. In the book the author tells about Russia, which is created by the efforts of Peter the Great. The novel has many historical characters, many well-known and little-known facts of the beginning of the reign of Peter.

Many scenarios were written by Yuri Herman, his books often formed the basis of many works of art. This happened with the scripts for the films "My Dear Man", "Pirogov", "Belinsky".

Herman wrote scripts for films that were very popular with viewers. These are the films "Seven brave", "Happy day", "Believe me, people" and many others.

Later, the younger son of the writer, who became a director, screened several books of his father, although the fate of Herman Jr.'s films evolved differently (for example, the work "Check on the roads" was shown to the audience only 20 years after filming), but this did not detract The meaning of the works of Yuri Herman.
