History of the theater

The Academic Theater of Musical Comedy (Ekaterinburg) was founded in 1933. The city's leadership decided to create it. It considered that the inhabitants (most of whom were workers) needed another theater, one that would be fun and musical. The city of Sverdlovsk (Ekaterinburg) was the capital of a huge Ural region, which included several districts: Tyumen, Perm, Chelyabinsk and Sverdvsky. The factories were rapidly developing here, the population constantly arrived. People who worked hard and worked hard needed good rest and entertainment. The operetta theater was ideally suited for such a purpose. The young dramatic actor Leonid Lukker was appointed the director of the Yekaterinburg musical committee.

The troupe was collected from young artists. The theater chose its freedom from stamps. Directed by the Yekaterinburg Musical Comedy were directors, artists, choreographers, stage designers from Moscow and St. Petersburg. Soloists were engaged from the Leningrad Theater of Musical Comedy. Some artists remained in Yekaterinburg for permanent residence.

The first performance of the new theater was an operetta called '' Rose Marie ''. It was written by the American authors R. Friml and G. Stotgardt. It was first staged on Broadway in 1924. The premiere of the operetta "Rose Marie" in Sverdlovsk took place on July 8, 1933. It is this date that is usually considered the birthday of the Musical Comedy Theater.

Year 2013 is the jubilee for the theater. He turned 80 years old. All these years he flourished, evolved and delighted the public. Yekaterinburg musical comedy can be called a theater-laboratory, because author's plays are born here, like there are not.

Troupe

Eccentric ballet
