Where Cuba is located is a paradise for tourists

Thanks to the increased tourist flow from Russia, many people already know where Cuba is. Yes, and every schoolboy will say with confidence that the Island of Freedom - that is the unofficial name of the Republic - is located in the Caribbean, in the "underbelly" of the United States of America. By the way, this citadel of socialism separates from this superpower only a small one, one hundred and eighty kilometers wide, the Florida Bay.

What else do we know about Cuba? Havana cigars, Hemingway and revolutionary entourage - these are the three things that come to mind in connection with the Island of Freedom. Do you want to know more about this country? Then read on.

Cuba on the world map

Yes, the state is really an island, but it is not limited to a land lot called Cuba. It would be more correct to say that the country lies on the archipelago. It is called so: Great Antilles. Of these, Cuba is the largest. But this archipelago includes a number of smaller clusters of islands. It is worth mentioning at least Los Canarreos. In this "canary" archipelago is the second largest island of Juventud (Molodezhny), which until 1978 was called Pinos (Pine). We add that about 1,500 reefs, rocks and tiny patches of land also belong to the state of Cuba. In addition to Los Canarreos, the country owns archipelagos Los Colorados, Sabana, Camagüey and the Jardines de la Reina. And now let's see where Cuba is on the map. Its geographical coordinates are as follows: 22 ° north latitude and 79 ° west longitude.

Boundaries of the Power

It has already been mentioned that the most "resistant tin soldier" of the socialist camp is separated from the USA by the Florida Gulf. But Cuba also has a land border with this superpower. True, it is small - only 29 kilometers, but very important politically. After all, on the other side of the cordon is the naval base of Guantanamo. The US has been renting this part of the island in the Gulf of the same name for several years now, and Cuba has never had any trouble, unlike Ukraine, which has so haphazardly concluded the Kharkov agreements with Russia. In the West Indies, where Cuba is located , there are other island states: Haiti (distance to it is 77 km) and Jamaica (140 km). The Mexican coast from Cuba separates the Yucatán strait, the width of which is over two hundred kilometers.

Climate

The Island of Freedom is located to the south of the Northern Tropic. This means that wherever Cuba is located, almost equatorial heat reigns. The state knows only two seasons a year - dry and wet. The first one lasts from November to April. Therefore, Cuba is included in the TOP-10 countries of the world, where it is comfortable to rest in the slushy and cold months. But do not disregard the Island of Freedom as a place of vacation in the period from May to October. The temperature of air and water as a result of the rainy season decreases by only 1-2 degrees (+ 28-32 against + 27-29 degrees). And the water is always pleased with the same heat - 26 degrees. It should also be taken into account that, unlike the continental territories lying in tropical latitudes, thunderclouds are bypassed by Cuba.

Nature

If we calculate the length of the entire coastline of the state, an impressive figure of three thousand seven hundred kilometers will appear. Yes, not all parcels are wonderful beaches with white or golden sand. After all, where there is Cuba, mangroves grow, descending to the sea itself. They are swamped, swarmed with alligators and other exotic animals. But these territories are national nature parks. Under the protection of the law there are some water areas - mostly coral reefs. There are on the island of Cuba and the mountains. The highest peak of the country is Peak Turkino (about two thousand meters above sea level). Beautiful waterfalls, rivers and lakes make Cuba a paradise for tourists.
