When beautiful is next: flower balsam, growing and grooming

Indoor plants, most varieties of which have gone a long way in selection, impress the eyes and imagination with the brightness of colors, the refinement of forms, the luxury of appearance. Even the most modest of them can turn a boring monophonic interior of a business office, official establishment or standard apartment into original premises, very cozy, elegant, sometimes even refined. That's why designers like to use home plants as the most effective decor elements of living space.

Why is Vanka wet?

Flower balsam, popularly called Vanka wet, is actually very beautiful and delicate. The adult plant has a bushy shape: the main stalk and branches that branch out from it in different directions, on which grow elongated leaves that look like broad lancets and lush, double flowers resembling noble camellias in shape. With a good, conscientious care, the flower balm reaches a height of more than a meter. Balsamin - our guest is overseas. In the 16th century it was brought to Europe from the East - from China and India, and since then has become a very welcome resident on the village and city windowsills. That's why they called him in Russia in their own way, Vanka. And why he is "wet", probably, too, everyone knows. An original room barometer, a flower balm begins to "cry" before rain or thunder. On the denticles of its leaves appear droplets of sweet taste of dew. However, if you pour water while watering it, the reaction of the plant to an excess of moisture will be the same. And a few words about the name. Flower balsam, as a scout, has another nickname - "light." So affectionately called those varieties, the petals of which have a bright scarlet or crimson color. However, Vanka is also gently pink, pastel shades, and lilac, and orange. When the vases with balsams are rampaging on the windowsill, it seems that the window is framed by a wonderful frame. And, finally, the last name of this familiar stranger - "touchy". The fact is that after flowering on branches, "boxes" with seeds are formed. It is worth touching them - and the rushed instantly burst.

Conditions for breeding and care

Balsam - a tender flower, it's worth remembering always. It requires special care, especially where it deals with light, heat and watering. With a lack of moisture, the flower wilts branches, the leaves hang limp, become lifeless and fall off. From a brilliant, bright green with an emerald hue, their color becomes yellowish, as if faded. The drying plant becomes an easy prey for one of the worst enemies of indoor flowers - a spider mite. By entangling twigs and leaves, drinking moisture out of them, he completes the matter started by the drought. Therefore, the land in Vanka in the pot must be damp, and the bush itself should be regularly sprayed in the summer. Excess water balsam too does not tolerate and reacts to them the same as a drought. And the flowerpot immediately invades mealy insects-the sub-surface. To get rid of them most often is a radical way - plant transplantation in another soil. Flower balsam, the photo of which is presented here, loves moderate temperatures, lots of light, but without direct sunlight. The best conditions when the pot is in a light, diffused shadow. But in the off-season and in the winter from direct sunshine Vanya does not refuse. The soil needs a nourishing flower, but in moderation, with a fair amount of sand and good drainage. In the summer it can be planted and in the open ground - on flower beds and flowerpots.

Get a handsome balsam and enjoy a wonderful pet!
